How To: Program 99-04 Mustang Remotes

Figured I would let you guys in on the Remote programming trick that most dealers charge you at least a 1/2 ($40-$50) Labor rate for.

I do have info on other FORD, LINCOLN, and MERCURY remote programming. So if you need to program a remote I can help you. PM me.

Your remote must look like this:

or

YOU WILL NEED ALL REMOTES TO VEHICLE WITH YOU TO PROGRAM ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!! MAKE SURE ALL THE BATTERIES ARE GOOD

If you program 1 remote by itself, the others will not work until you do them together!

*KOEO - Key On Engine OFF
*KOER - Key On Engine Running

Steps
Put the key into the ignition and turn ON - Accessories are on (KOEO)
Then turn Key OFF (DO NOT GO TO LOCK POSITION)

Do this ATLEAST 8 TIMES in 10 SECONDS
(key on, key off, key on, key off)

After the 8th time the key is turned ON the door locks will LOCK

LEAVE THE KEY ON

THEN PUSH THE LOCK OR UNLOCK BUTTON ON EACH REMOTE AT this time ONE BY ONE.

Once You have pushed each remote button
Turn the key OFF

The Doors WILL UNLOCK!

VOILA!

Test all your remotes!

If you can't get it to work the first or 2nd time you try its ok. IF it NEVER WORKS then you may need another way to program it or have an issue.

I did this when I got my new key fobs.

Took all of 15 seconds to do. It's nice to have those extra fobs.

It won't let me edit the OP? I guess I will write a new thread for the 1993-1998 Remote programming?

Re: How To: Program 99-04 Mustang Remotes

sorry guys I have been slacking... I have been busy and tired lately (lots of late night adventures!) even a good casino story. Therefore my energy devoted to anything other than work at the workplace has been limited. (and I don't get online at home much at all)

I will provide a good chart and break down with all ford lincoln mercurys remotes soon

This ancient post was a lot of help. I picked up an extra fob, and my previous remote stopped working when I programmed the new one. For some reason I did not consider that I needed to do all of the remotes at the same time.

Yes, I felt like a moron when this post slapped me in the face and kickstarted my memory.

Old posts and the search function serve a great purpose.
