Mustang PATS system?

im having some problems with my anti theft system. i went into the store and when i tried to start up the car nothing happend the only thing was a blinking theft light. i tried disconnecting the battery (which was bought about 3 months ago) and it did not work. the only way i got her to start was by someone giving me a boost. this happend to me a VERY long time ago but as been free of incident for over 2 years is there any ideas why the car is not starting or any way of starting her back up?

Re: Mustang PATS system?

Ford uses a PATS system (passive anti theft system). There is an electronic device in the key that communicates with the power train control module (PCM) to allow the car to start. The signals are relayed through a device in the steering column that may be malfunctioning in this car. Try tilting your wheel in different positions and see if it won't start. could have broken wires

The transceiver is easy to replace.
1. Remove the plastic parts around the steering column
2. remove the lock cylinder. Put the key in and turn it to run and push in on the retaining pin with a punch or similar tool and pull the cylinder out.
3. remove one screw and remove the transceiver and disconnect the wiring connecter. The transceiver sits in the hole the lock cylinder goes in.
4. install the new one and put it back together.

Try Black Cat Anti theft system. It is one of the best in present time. I am using it from 2 yrs.
