Scratch Doctor?

I was just wondering if anyone has used, have, or heard if the scratch doctor really works or if it is a good product? I saw the commerical and it said that it takes away the swirl marks and light scratches? Any help cause I kinda've want to get it soon so I can use it before fall comes and it gets cold.

Re: Scratch Doctor?

most of those products are worthless, if the scratch is not through the clear then its a chance it can be fully removed or mostly. If it is through the clear... it will always be there but it can be touched up some to hide it. If its through all layers same thing.

I would find a local pro touch up guy (go to car lots and ask they generally visit once a week or so and do touch up work on trade ins) and see how their work is and if you like get them to do yours.

Re: Scratch Doctor?

I have some swirl marks~ not very bad though very few. For a black car they just show up...

you need to wash wtih dawn, clay bar, wash with dawn, rubbing compound (3m clear coat safe), do this about 2-3 times really good, wash with dawn, then protect it. That should remove most of the swirls. You can look good over the car before you wax etc. If this wont remove them you can have the paint cut with a buffer~ but I would do that last as it removes clear more than compound.

You can try one area with compound to see if 2-3 coats and elbow grease removes them before you do the whole car

Re: Scratch Doctor?

Yeah, dish detergent will strip off all the old wax. That is why it is a bad idea to wash with it if you aren't going to be rewaxing the car.

Some people don't recommend ever using dish soap for whatever reason.

Re: Scratch Doctor?

yea its only used to fully remove any thing on the car~ not for protection lol dawn is recommended as it does the best job at stripping was without hurting the car

Re: Scratch Doctor?

it wont hurt the clear, it just removes wax and such, ive used it on mine a couple times. I wouldnt go doing it every time before I waxed, just when you want to do a really really good clean up (say once every year or two)

Re: Scratch Doctor?

I use one of the best if not the best tar removers. I get it from napa called Super Blue. It is 100% better than wal mart or auto zone stuff. It takes off the previous wax tar bugs everything. You could use it and save on your elbow since all you have to do is spray it wait 30 seconds then wipe it off it won't hurt the clear or paint i've been doing it for over 3 years and when i clean my car its the best in town. So if you don't feel like using dawn go buy ya a gallon of super blue.
