V8 conversion!

i have a 1980 mustang that has a 3.3 litre inline six that is blown. i want to convert it to a 351w that i have but i have read somewhere that i have to change the k-member out. is this true and i have also read that aftermarket k members move the front wheel base forward 3/4 of an inch to 2 inches has anyone put one in there fox body mustang here?
