Roush Drama

Well....I wanted to put an x-pipe on my V6 '04 but all the ones that are available will not fit. The guys at roush said putting one on will require custom work and have a high risk of an exhaust leak.

ALSO Roush does have available X-Pipes but only fit the GT's in my year. I suppose it would be possible to have it fitted. However i live in California so I can't have a permanant weld 'cause i need so slap on the original catted y-pipe.

Any suggestions???

Re: Roush Drama

You could try to get a muffler shop to make you one

Re: Roush Drama

if you have a V6 people make off road pipes for them that bold up but it will require GT style catback to work~

Re: Roush Drama

It is a gt style Cat back but the mufflers are farther back w/ the roush system. Any type of midpipe that is curently on the market will not fit by just bolting it on.

Or should I modify a gt midpipe originally meant for the roush system?

Re: Roush Drama

as long as the final result allows you to bolt up and unbolt so remove the catback from the mid section its not that bad.

Are you sure your catback is 3? I believe stingers are only 2.5" all the way back.

I was going to ask the same thing. I figured a 3" diameter would be too big, even for that supercharged car. Most aftermarket systems are 2.5" mandrel bent, at least mine is. Isn't the stock piping on the cobras 2.25" like the v6's and GT's?

Re: Roush Drama

No, stock piping is 2.5" on the 03/04 cobras. The stingers bolt up with no issues to the stock mid pipe with no need for any reducer.

3" piping is good on cobras running higher boost levels, but I know someone with a 3" exhaust and it kind of resembles a V6 when they switch to 2.5" piping. It sounds hollow like there isn't enough air moving to fill the pipes until they get into boost.

Re: Roush Drama

i have an x-pipe made for my side exit exhaust. since i live in cali i still have my cats. but any good muffler should be able to make an x-pipe to fit your exhaust set up no problem.

Roush's V6 cat back is based on a Y mid pipe splitting into another Y feeding the pair of mufflers. If you use the GT flow pipes (between the mid pipe and mufflers), you can use any V6 midpipe that mates to a GT cat back. I'm running a Mac H pipe on mine right now. Bolted right up when I got rid of my X pipe. And FWIW, H or X doesn't matter on the V6.

Re: Roush Drama

My "Roush Style" exhaust was for a GT not a V6. That's why I had the X-Pipe made. It was made by Borla for a Razzi Body kit. I got it for half the price it would have cost me to get the actull Roush V6 kit. The Borla Mufflers were to mild for me and I had them removed a while back.

If you had the Borla side exit for the Razzi kit, I wouldn't call it "Roush style". They are differnt bends to line up the tips correctly.

Re: Roush Drama

I have the Roush side skirts installed too. Now I have never seen a True Roush Exhaust system before install. But from what I can tell from what I have, the bends are the same. The tips are just different. Other then that, I had no issues with the install or fitment of the side skirt with my exhaust set up.

I never said I had a Roush Exhaust, I said "Roush Style" as in side exit. here's a pic. as you can see the tips line up fine.

Re: Roush Drama

The bends look better on mine. but the borla mufflers also look smaller. I removed the mufflers all together the borlas were way to quite for me.

is that the spintech muffler?

Re: Roush Drama

Spins on mine. I ditched the Magnaflows Roush uses in the first month after gaining a bit of rwtq with these. My pipes are beat to crap from years of racing and running them into the ground.
