Well congrats...hopefully we'll see you around on the forum before then.
What exactly do you plan to do in the Navy?

i will be on the forum till then probably, but i tested and qualified for the Nuclear program. its a 4 year contract with a mandatory 2 year extension so basically 6 years. but i will get to work with nuclear reacters and stuff. My goal is to be able to weld for the nuclear field. so after boot camp i go to 2 years of school for the nuclear stuff and after that i choose electric mate or machinist mate, electric mate deals with the technical stuff machinist mate makes it happen. i wanna make it happen if you know what i mean.

Re: SEP 14 2010

Nice, very nice. Anyone who says the nuclear program isn't ballin is a damn idiot. My friend who dropped out of college 1st semester freshman year because of money issues joined the Navy. He qualified for the nuclear program, got a real nice signing bonus, bought a 2010 Challenger, and just got orders to be stationed on a sub, so that's pretty sweet.

Sounds like you got a plan...I hear ya, I'd rather be makin' it happen to

Re: SEP 14 2010

Congratulations, Sledge! The Navy has a great Nuclear program, and if you decide not to make it a career, the commercial industry is hurting bad for people. I work at a nuke plant, so I know. I wasn't a Navy nuke, but I was a career conventional machinist mate and retired after 21 years. If you don't want to ride subs, the surface Navy has carriers and that is the way to go in my opinion. You'll get to see places a lot more than the sub guys. Anyway, good on ya for volunteering to serve your country; you won't regret it. If I can help you in any way or answer any questions for you, please PM me. I'll get back to you ASAP.
