supercharge and turbocharge differences

i found a site on howstuff works that really explains it good of the differences. Superchargering actually has an edge over turbo.

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question122.htm

heres another site for nitrous oxide:

superchargers cheaper then turbochargers? wouldn't that be nice!

Re: supercharge and turbocharge differences

That exact article has already been discussed on 3.8mustang.com. Both sides (turbo and super) agreed that the article generalized entirely too much. It depends on the car, and there is no way to paint either with that broad a brush.

here's a good one for nitrous too

as for How stuff works.com it's a great site, and gives you a great overview. But if you're after horspower, a turbo will always win. If you want pure low end torque, a roots/screw type supercharger will win. Just depends on what you want out of your forced induction on which application you use.

It also depends on the ease of the install. Generally, more shops have more knowledge on installing aftermarket superchargers, just a fact of them being around more.

Re: supercharge and turbocharge differences

With bolt on kits like Procharger and turbo kits like TMA's, most anyone should be able to do the instal themselves. But if not, Lowflyn's right, shop costs are important too.
