Re: 2003 sonic blue terminator

Hmm, interesting thread just about to grab my popcorn

Well, congrats on the purchase...I've always been afraid of cars like these modded considerably by their previous owners and then up for sale. Whatever happened to them before you own it is out of your control...I guess that's a chance you take.

Definitely keep us updated...it looks good.

It's all good, just both of us taking statements out of context. No biggee. Looking forward to another sonic blue car on the site.

I wasnt looking at picking up a modded one but after knowing about all the documentation on the car, framed dyno sheet and framed SVT cert. the previous owner sounds as if he has as much O.C.D. as me when it comes to his cars so thats why I wasnt so hesitant about buying.Besides I had bad luck with the black one I was lookin at and was treated pretty ****ty by the dealership. When I got off the phone with them I searched on CL Dallas under Cobra and this was the 1st one that popped up.......it just hit me and I said,"Shes the one"

Yah I remember you talking about the black one...it sounded pretty shady. Best thing you could do is pass on that one.

Re: 2003 sonic blue terminator

Well everyone, bad news. This car WAS NOT anything like it was talked up to be.let's just say she was a wolf in sheeps clothing.Grab a drink, some popcorn and enjoy this story.

Saturday morning a friend from my local club/forum joined me for the ride to Dallas, which is a 3 hour trip and $60 in gas round trip not to mention breakfast on me at Grandys which was another $18.

As we pulled into the dealship the car looked super clean.Sonic blue, amazing shine, chrome wheels, smoked lenses all around and a killer stance.Introductions were made and while draining the lizard I heard the exhaust rumble. With a smile on my face I began my inspection.

That smile was soon gone as I opened the door and saw that the interior was not as claimed which was supposed to have looked like it was wrapped in plastic. It was not horrible but not as clean as described. The exterior paint was in great shape but her belly wear did not match the outside which had me wondering. So from there I started to check body lines and saw that where the door met the rear quarter panel was not lined up on the drivers side. The gaps between the hood and pillars were also different on each side.Looking at the front bumper I noticed overspray on the black molding that is attached to the bottom of the bumper so From there I asked for the carfax.

The Carfax was clean but that just means if it was in a accident,it wasn't reported. We popped the hood and saw more overspray and sections that had been painted but not clear coated. Engine was pretty clean with no leaks, looks like new fuel rails and the blower and belts looked brand new.

So we started to pull out of the lot and I stepped on her and let me say I was not impressed at all, shifted into 2nd,romped her and it sounded and felt like the rear end fell out or we were just rear ended by someone. My 99 cobra had this same issue. This was not the typical clunk that some IRS owners get because of the smaller bolt Ford used. This was a EXTREME clunk.Sale over and deposit refunded.

So the search continues for another.......

Re: 2003 sonic blue terminator

$18 for breakfast holy ****!

Just kidding...sorry to hear man, that sucks...nothing worse than driving far away to find out the car you've been waiting to get is a p.o.s. I had that happen to me too when I was looking. The car was nothing like the guy described, plus he lied about sliding into a traffic pole in the winter...another case of having the car fixed and not filing a claim, thus equaling no red flags in a carfax.

That cobra definitely sounds like it's been through the mill. I really don't know that much about them when it comes to buying one and what problems to look for, but overspray and gaps in the body lines are a given as you said.

Good luck as you continue your search, keep us updated

Sounds about like par for course...

If you're looking for something modded shoot me a pm if you're willing to make a trip this far. I know of 3 coupes for sale in Memphis right now modded to the hilt for less than they were asking for the blue car.

2 black coupes one silver.
