New PB today in the 1/8th

Since the local 1/4 mile closed down last year the 1/8th mile track just down the road held an all ford event today.

My best run of the day after an hour cool down was 7.67 @ 97.19.

I think the car has a 100mph 1/8th mile run in it...just need some practice getting there.

Not too shabby for a full weight convertible car on M/T radials though.

Re: New PB today in the 1/8th

I believe the heat soak issues has been resolved now with some help from my wife.

For those with 03/04 Cobras and GT500's...running the I/C pump between runs is key to getting those temperatures down. Going to work on a switch design this week that will allow me to keep the relay in for normal driving but be able to override it at the track to run while in the pits. I'll do an update sometime this week with my solution hopefully.

Yes, the pumps are a big help in the cool down. I have my jumper wire in the armrest of my car at all times just in case I might need it.

I thought about the switch idea as well, and there are a number of write ups on how to wire it, but it can't be that tough.

What would also help out would be getting a set of fans for the heat exchanger and wiring them up to the switch as well so you can have airflow over it while the car is stationary.

However, my ultimate solution is going to be the kincaid killer chiller. That should end any and all heat soak issues whether parked or moving.

I have my mine with me in my glove box if its ever needed, and between runs you want your hood open anyway so its not a huge deal to plug it in~ but you have to keep taking the relay in/out

it would be easy to wire a switch under the hood. All you have to do is run a wire from a constant power to the switched 12v wire on the relay and put a switch in the middle.

yea but you dont want the wire just "hanging" around in case the wire was to get to much current on it etc it could melt and who knows what would happen, it needs to be on a fuse setup.

Well here's my $2.50 30 minute fix, works like a charm and looks good as well.
