New to Mustang Evolution

Hi,
Just bought a 1999 SRS drop top to restore yesterday. I found this site thinking I could learn a few things that would make restoration go faster.
Thanks for all the great suggestions.

Welcome to the site,

Hope we can help you out!

Have you got any more information on the car? What needs restoration?

Re: New to Mustang Evolution

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I was driving yesterday and noticed a vibration when the automatic transmission changed from first to second gear. I have to diagnose this, but, I got a carfax and found the car had been involved in a fender bender. The rear is very stiff and I don't see any issues with the frame. Tire wear is normal. Stability is good. I suspect slack in the drive shaft or rear "chunk" gear.

The body is worn out. I need to find the plastic vented piece between the hood and windshield near the windshield wipers. I am also planning to add a sound system, and JVC stereo.

The basic restoration will be slow, but, I will start working on the drive train, then follow up with an engine rebuild, as the money is available.

find a local pull a part junkyard and you can find tons of great items to get to help in your restoration for cheap.

Re: New to Mustang Evolution

You can get the black plastic cowl piece either from a wrecked mustang at a local junk yard, or an online salvage yard, or from a vendor that carries OEM parts.

Late Model Restoration and CJ Pony Parts both carry stock parts for our mustangs. I would definitely try the salvage yard route first...new cowls are about $252.

Mustang Parts & Accessories at 50resto
CJ Pony Parts - Ford Mustang Parts
Mustang Parts & Performance - American Muscle

Prestige mustang and MPS Salvage are big mustang specific salvage yards, may get lucky there

Prestige Mustang Parts - Your #1 source for used antique and late model Mustang parts.
MPS Auto Salvage -Mustang salvage, New and Used Mustang parts

Re: New to Mustang Evolution

oh FYI SRS is not a specific type of mustang, its just the Safety Restraint System that they stamp on the passenger area (many people assume SRS is a package just FYI for when ordering parts)

Re: New to Mustang Evolution

yea it happens all the time, just something they need to know when ordering parts, dont confuse the people by telling them SRS or something.
