Retail Version of the GT-H Approved for Sale

It will be dubbed the "Shelby GT"

What is your opinion on this move? Me, I think it is pretty stupid. How many versions of the Shelby are there going to be?

Its just a money pit. I just don't see people buying this. I mean they are not that amazing of a car. Its a GT with a gold stripe and hood pin.

Oh and you might be able to feel the extra 25HP powering the 3800 pound car.

Id rather buy a CAI and catback for a GT and be faster and still less expensive than that "shelby"

It depends on how more the price will increase. It also has a Ford racing suspension and a few chassis stiffening components. This car makes me think of a Bullit Mustang.

Yea I was thinking that too. All the bullit was was a TB swap and Cosmetic changes. You know the price is going to be more than a Regular GT due to the name and the extra performance. Which is pretty stupid. Ford needs to stop making expensive cars like this if they want to make money.

I think if they raise the price maybe 1 or 2 grand that it might not be such a bad deal, but if they try to raise it by like 5 grand or something then its defanantly not worth it. I agree with you about the expensive car thing, they put some legendary names on all their high performance cars, and it seem to be raise the price way to much, look at the Ford GT, and Shelby 500, even if the MSRP isn't that bad the dealers are selling them for way over MSRP.

I can't believe that they are just doing this instead of releasing a car that would really be a fit between the GT and the GT500. GT350 would have been perfect...

None the less, figure at least a 5k shelby penalty on top of the price of the GT. Then add in about 1-2k for the 25 puppies and few suspension tweaks. So, my guess is it will be about $35k for a coupe.

I agree with Smurfin !! What are they thinking You can only capitalize on the Shelby name so much before it's overkill

There is no limit to how much they can capitalize on that name.

Yes...a rebadged and striped GT is really pushing it. At least give us some real differences between the models like the Mach 1 vs GT. I thought the Bullit was pushing it as it was nothing more than a GT really...but damn, this is even worse since I am sure the price will be old cobra range (~35k)

Most people that will buy these cars are not real enthusiasts, there is a market and ford will exploit it.

Re: Retail Version of the GT-H Approved for Sale

they are just trying to get people to buy it based on a name not on what the name stands for anymore... they are trying to capitalize on peoples good memories of their old cars that they loved or owned. In XX years from now the same wont be said about the currenty shelby I dont think.

I can see selling the actual GT-H. What I can't see his renaming it the Shelby GT and redoing the looks a bit

Re: Retail Version of the GT-H Approved for Sale

I Would Go For It If It Were As Fallows- 300hp Gt Mustang, 350hp Shelby Gt350, 500hp Shelby Gt500, 550hp Shelby Gt Kr550, & Last But Not Least 650hp Ford Gt. Now That Is How It Should Be!!!!!!!!. No Harm In Wanting.

Re: Retail Version of the GT-H Approved for Sale

ford isnt about making performance vehicles for car people they are about making money... they feel that making a more mid-level car between the gt and the gt500 is not going to give them enough profit so they arent doing it... sad but true... its all about money if they didnt make money on the mustang it wouldnt be for sale on the car lots at all.... you think they actually CARE about mustang owners or loyalty... they just care about how much money you are going to bring into their business.
