New Jersey State Inspection

Has anybody heard anything about New Jersey is getting rid of state inspections. I heard something but I'm not sure, they are saying that inspections are going to be finished by July 1st. Heres the kicker, if you get pulled over by any cop whether a state, sheriff or town, they can do a inspection on the spot... Wonderfull ain't it.

Re: New Jersey State Inspection

here is some info for ya

i work for a pd, and i can tell ya, inspection is not going away any time soon.

first off, get your car inspected, even if it means you have to pay a local shop to do it, get it done (make sure they are state certified though, otherwise, if you get caught with a fake inspection sticker, its 39:8-9c (fraudulent inspection), which is a criminal charge, on top of the 39:8-1 which is a primary offense (failure to inspect)).

also, cops can pull you over if there is an inspection problem and we CAN see if you have a valid inspection. so don't try to fake it either. we'll just be even more pissed off if you lie. oh, and they can even see the reason why you failed.

so just pay to get it done, or take it to a state inspection facility. better to get it done than nothing at all.

also, if you fail, you have 45 days to get reinspected (i'm pretty sure its 45 days, but don't hold me to that). keep the paperwork on you and get it fixed and reinspected asap.

hope this helps!

Re: New Jersey State Inspection

oh the on the spot inspection is done by the state when they do an inspection check point. if you pass that inspection, you get a new sticker, so no worries on that end.

just google state inspection shops in your area, i'm sure you will find one, but you may need to fix it to pass...

Congrats Nicole!

Oh and to OP: I fixed your post for the car pic, in the future.. You can either upload a picture directly to a post or link to your garage.

As for inspection, I had a high flow cat on the Buick, and it probably wouldn't have passed a sniffer test but OBDII cars were plug and play, mine passed. With the rear 02 turned off or MIL eliminators, as long as they can't see them.. you should pass no problem - If you failed at a state inspection place for no cats or tampered with cats/etc you have to go to a certified emissions repair shop/inspection shop for repair..

Though state inspections look for cats visually with a mirror.. So a private shop would be the better option unless you swap your stock midpipe back on

If you find a shop or if someone know's a shop, it's best to go about it through PM and not post it publicly

(I lived in NJ til last winter)

It does

Luckily there is a wealth of CARB legal aftermarket parts OR stealth -stock looking parts

And with the current budget crisis in CA I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the CARB programs go to the wayside in favor of 'if you pass the sniffer and OBDII test, you're good to go'

Re: New Jersey State Inspection

I found the insurance company. You can only put 3000 miles a year on the car, that wont be a problem for me, I dont know if you use yours daily. As far as MV goes, they asked me for the declaration page from the insurance, pics of the car and proof of limited amount of the car, im not sure how i'm gonna do that but I see all these kids with their freaking little civics all with the collectors inspection sticker. I'm gonna try it and see, I'm just waiting for my car to get done and I'm gonna send whatever I have in to MV and see what happens.
