Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

probably so, covers are out dated though~ most go with tint that looks cleaner for the rear, as far as the front they make tint for those as well on 05+

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

Yea, they may be outdated but at least I can take them off if there are problems. I'd hate to have to buy whole new headlights/tailights if I kept getting tickets for those being tinted.

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

the tint you can get you can peal off just like on windows, I think it depends on your area more than anything, some places dont care as much as others.

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

I have clear covers on my front lights, just for protection from road trash. You can't tell that they are on in the daylight unless you really look for it. When the lights are on at night I can see some ripple in the light that hits the road.

I have heard of people getting tickets for tinted lights, but no consistency. I guess it is how much the cop wants to give out tickets. I have followed some that had rear lights so dark you can barely see the brakes lights when they come on.

Since my car is red anyway tinted lights is not something I plan on doing.

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

Yea, the darker tint has caused a problem for me when I have followed people with them on.. Might as well as blacked out your entire lights at that point. I checked mine yesterday and they still produce a good amount of light at night. Well either or, I am happy with how they look, for now, and until I get a ticket, I probably will not be taking them off.. HEHE

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

I may have to order new tail lights (mine are spray tinted) and take off my headlight covers and order the AM dark smoked lights. I get pulled over ALL THE TIME at $116 a pop. (and that's just for headlights or tail lights). Every cop says something different, though. It depends on the cop.

It used to be just Highway Patrol but I just recently was pulled over by a bored County officer. I live in Florida, though....

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

Yah it all depends on the cops that day...covers seem easier to remove, but they do leave a nasty line of dirt and grime from where the covers were. Also, as said, the tint overlays peel off just as easily.

I'd definitely go with the overlays, but get the light smoked ones, not the dark smoked or blacked out overlays.

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

Well, knock on wood, I've been doing about 200 miles a day and haven't had a problem yet.. I can certainly understand why a cop would have a problem with them. At night, I just cannot see much of anything. HAHA The price we pay for the looks we want!

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

Hahaha, nice! I had the regular tint overlays on my first black V6 and I liked them a lot. Every once in awhile I'd have to check and see if they started peeling forward if it was raining. (and that really only happened once)

I do pass cops all day long! It just depends on how bored they are I guess if they feel like stopping me.

You can get them on ebay but I'm not sure which sellers/vendors are good and which ones are junk....sometimes it all comes down to you get what you pay for.

I bought the overlays from American Muscle for my car...thick mil material that has held up great, a bit pricey for some vinyl, but they are decent quality.

They do have them for your car and would probably be easier to install since you don't have any real nasty curves to worry about.

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

Well I've been running day and night with them on and I've passed by many cops and they don't seem to care. They do block a lot of the light so traveling with them on gets a bit interesting at times.. HAHA

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

Been running tail light tint on our cars since 04 or so. No issues from any cops at all in all those years and they're fairly dark.

Used to run the headlight clip on covers all the time, never had any issues from cops on those either.

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

Yea. I might try and find an alternative to the front covers. It seems like the front driver's side cover doesn't really want to stay in place as good as it should.

I might also think about the spray on tint as I like the back covers but you can still see the tap, if you know where to look.. I've done a good job of hiding it..

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

I know a friend of mine here in town had to pull the front covers off his 07 but they didn't say anything about his tail light covers.

Re: Headlight/Taillight Covers

I wish the cops around here didn't care! We have so many of them here and they are very picky. I've had my window tint checked a bunch too and that was the only thing on the car when I bought it.

It's funny you say that. I thought for sure I would have been pulled over by now for the tint that I have.. Oddly enough, it came from the factory like that.

Haha! And of course it's illegal! In Florida they are really picky.

I had to drive through a DUI checkpoint (I wasn't drinking) and they made me go park my car while they picked it apart for about 15-20 minutes. Checking my window tint, headlights, tail lights, everything. They made me step on my brakes a million times too. When my lights are on, or if I hit the brakes, my tail lights don't look tinted. It's very translucent. Good thing I didn't get a ticket.... that time.

The first time I get a ticket for window tint, I am taking it to the dealer and making them pay since it came that way from the factory. Isn't there some law that they cannot sell a vechile that is not street legal?

i dont think its right that they can do this ****, just check people without a ****in reason. thougt they had to have probable cause or a warrant to bust you? and no im not talking about the dui part, im talkin about trying to pick apart peoples cars to find something to bust them for since they didnt get them for a dui?
