Re: 1967 Mustang Indy Pacesetter Special

The 1967 Indy Pacesetter officially never took part in the 67 Indy 500 because the Camaro did that year(1967). But it was offered in a hardtop body. It had double stripes briefly over the door and an appropriate signature on the selector lever.

They were just another special Mustang to boost sales at different Ford dealers.

Re: 1967 Mustang Indy Pacesetter Special

Made at the Metuchen, NJ plant on April 17, 1967.

It is a Diamond Green two door hardtop with standard Ivy Gold interior. Sporting a 289 2V V8 with a conventional 2.79:1 gear ratio.

They were only sold in the Indianapolis district special that was sold in the month of May to coincide with the Indianapolis 500.

They were dealer specials to boost sales in the month of May. Still a cool piece of Mustang history if you ask me.

California did the same thing. Ever hear of the California Special? It was only offered in California. Kind of like your 1967 Indy Pacesetter.
