Do what i'm doing and make a cobra engine. You don't need the whole car.

You could spend 25K on a Cobra with 375+ HP ready at the wheels, or get a GT for less than 10K in decent condition, and put that extra 15K into the GT and have a lot more power than a stock Cobra.
15K in a GT would be a lost investment. 15K for a Cobra will atleast net you some returns on the resale minus depreciation.

4V Supercharged (The s197s are now 3V Tivec Engines)

Trust me if I had 25-30,000 to through around i'd have lowflyin's cobra sitting in the drive way right now lol.
I've been Cobra shopping for about 2 months now and you can pick up a decent real priced Cobra for 15000-16000 pretty much anywhere. SVTP is full of unrealistic prices or someone seeking to get their money out of their mods. lowflyn's car is clean and definettley worth every penny but anyone would be a fool to pay anyone's asking price.

Keep the GT and enjoy it. I was only trying to persuade you to get a Cobra. If it's your thing it's whatever.

oh I know man. I just love my gt to much to sell it and more then likely take a loss on it. then just to dump even more money on a cobra right now. Ideally in a couple of years I'll probably pick up a cobra to sit next to my gt.

Re: If you had $2500-3000 to spend what would you do?

I say do whatever the hell you want...if you want to keep the GT and build it to be a fun, solid weekend car then do it.

You're always going to be competing against a faster car...I consider the 03/04 Cobra in a different league than a GT. Hell, I say make a badass GT that will toast other GT's and Z28's.

If you plan on doing it over time and doing it right ~ forged bottom end, supporting fuel delivery, brakes and beefier suspension parts, I say do it.

I've always liked a cammed 2v with a vortech.

CO....BUH...RUH..... but if the GT is your thing keep it and go with a power adder or build that engine for safety.

Just my opinion but I wouldnt waste my time starting off with the 2v platform....no offense.

Re: If you had $2500-3000 to spend what would you do?

mods on a cobra or gt dont return on resale, the cobra I like better since it takes less mods (2k or so) to reach 475rwhp or so... that means you dont lose that much and can easily remove those mods on resale if you wanted.

If you find a really nice 03/04 cobra for 15-16k BUY IT the only ones in that price range are higher mile ones and in modest condition. The reason (some of it) SVTP has higher prices is the cars are generally much nicer. There are a few idiots that think their car is in as good a condition or what not, but most are on the site. You get what you pay for.

$2500-$3000 would be just enough for a big brake package- a set of the Cobra brakes will leave you enough cash to get a 125HP nitrous kit.... Just sayin.......

If it really came to having ~3K to spend, I've had my eye on this for over 6 months :Stage 1 (96-04) 4.6 2v single turbo kit

You can probably find a t3/t4 cheap on craigslist, and opt out for the turbo on the kit.

Not a fan of nitrous. I like long term power. Plus 125shot on a stock motor sounds like a terrible idea.

Not a giggle juice fan, either, just throwing out some options. BUT.... everybody is a fan of brakes.
