decent price for 04 Mach1?

A friend of mine recently totaled his truck and he is looking to get into a Mustang really bad. He first found an 03 GT, no wrecks, with 94k miles for 10k. I told him i thought he could find a better deal for a little more money.

Well I found a 04 Mach 1 that has a nice price tag on it. Just not sure if its a 'good deal'.

Acadian Used Cars - Baton Rouge Louisiana - Inventory Details - 2004 Ford Mustang $12,995.00

looking closer the inspection tag is way out of date, which means it may have been sitting at the dealership a while now. we're going mustang shopping tomorrow and he is hoping to come home with a 'new' pony. i just wanted to see what you guys think before we go take a look at it to get some better opinions. i don't want him jumping on something that is a bad idea.

thanks in advance

Re: decent price for 04 Mach1?

car has around 90k miles unfortunately... as far as the condition i can only go off of what the pics show. we're waiting for a carfax once we get there--let the dealer pay for it. we're gonna def. want to bring the car to a mech. shop so we're hoping that we can 'borrow' it for a few hours. lol

thanks so much for your input! i'll let him know and we will def. keep that in mind.

it makes it hard because his only mode of transportation at the moment is a motorcycle so he's looking to get in a vehicle pretty quickly. i just don't want him to jump head first and regret it.

Re: decent price for 04 Mach1?

well the thing is u got to be careful and do your homework when ever lloking to buy a sprts car people buy them to drive them hard do burnouts and race i say get a car facts on that to.. gt's are nice but there is nothing like a 4v motor getting down.. with that kind of money you could find a decent car.

The paint is just chipped. Apparently someone didn't do a good job painting the rims

Re: decent price for 04 Mach1?

I wouldn't give over 10k for a 90k mile Mach 1...not with the market how it is right now.

He can pick up a lightly used (50k miles or less) 03/04 GT in that price range or possibly a Mach 1 if he plays his cards right. I know he's needing something quick...but that's not the way to buy a performance vehicle.

We got him down to 11 with brand new tires. He's taking the deal. He fell in love once we drove it. We will be headed home with her shortly

Re: decent price for 04 Mach1?

ask for the carfax, how does the dealer look. does it look ****y or good, sometimes you can tell if its a good buy the way dealer looks. i advise him/her to look some more i didnt and found a 04 gt for $4000 with 85k miles and mine had 101k+ for $3000. but do thing $12+ is a bit pricey though.

Re: decent price for 04 Mach1?

Well I don't want to say too much since he already bought it...but I personally think 11-12 is a little high for a Mach 1 with ~90k miles. I only think that because the market is still in the buyer's favor and I've seen Mach 1's with way less miles at dealers asking 13-15k up here in the northwoods...and I know you can find more cars for better prices down there.

Plus, it's an auto ...If I had that 4V I'd want the 5spd.

But, if he loves the car then more power to him...I'd still have it checked out...especially that transmission. Just to be safe...it does look sexy though...like the look.

I wouldn't pay that. I got my 03 gt with a few goodies on it already with only 78k miles for $9200. I'd offer at most 8-8500.

The guy already bought himself a mach 1...this thread is borderline old...4 months, but I'd say the question has been answered.
