Question ebay CAI

anybody know if buying a cheap CAI from ebay is a bad thing? i know normally you get what you pay for, but they all do pretty much the same thing...

Re: ebay CAI

I like mine and its pretty good quality paid around $32-$35 for it. I would recommend it. View my garage for a pic of mine.

Re: ebay CAI

Keep in mind a CAI alone is enough on the 4.0's to alter the a/f ratio to make the car run rich.

I'd definitely consider a tune along with the CAI. I know some CAI's are said to not need a tune, but you really won't gain anything from one without a tune. I've heard some +05's have gained ~30hp from a good tune, exhaust, and a CAI.

Re: ebay CAI

That is the same seller as mine. It was good enough that I purchased one for the pick-up a month ago that I just traded off.

Re: ebay CAI

I bought an Ebay CAI- I remember it was a "BOMBZ Racing", and, with a tune, made 32 HP on Marcy Motorsports' dyno. I swapped it for a prettier C&L intake and made 5 LESS horsepower. Go figure...

So what did you do? Did you put the BOMBZ back in? And if the stang that is on your Avatar is yours, then I have to say...Nice!! But for some reason that look reminds me of Herby the Love Bug.

No, I had already given the BOMZ intake to a friend. That was on my '07 Roush, which I traded for the '07 Saleen Parnelli Jones that I have now. Neither intake will work now, as the Parnelli has a functional Shaker. As for the "Herbie" look, the number roundels are made of static cling material, and are only for car shows. The car is a tribute to Parnelli Jones' number 15 Mustang that won the 1970 Trans Am Championship.
Here's a shot of the car without the numbers-

Wow, that's interesting, it's nice to be educated on why there is a certain number used for things, and now I know what the 15 is for. I like that, a bit of history on your vehicle. And by the way, that is an nice stang!

WOW, That is one awesome car. That is incredible. Congratulations on getting to move around in something special like that.
I just watched a show about Parnelli on Speed Channel 3 days ago about how he helped put input into the 2012 5.0 which will happen to get the same stripe you have. Anyway, Nice Car

Re: ebay CAI

I also got one of the cheapies. A Stack Racing new, but "open box return" for $20.00 and then put a K&N filter on it. Then BOOM- Got a great working CAI.
