Fuel Pump Question

Howzit everyone real quick question of a problem I am having
with my 5.0HO.Okay,One day I started up the engine to run for a while to let battery charge since it's been sitting for some time now.5 minutes in while I was watering my plants
it stalled. When I went back to restart it,Nothing! Just cranked away.I have compression, spark and I figure since
the fuel in the tank is a year or two old it probably is stale and has no flashpoint.I tested fuel pressure but normally when key is first turned on the fuel rail pressures up in a second and I pressed pintle on schrader valve fuel test port and no fuel shot out no pressure what so ever.Pump still pumps fuel but weak,Could pump be functional yet not enough to run engine? Should I Just replace fuel pump motor and rubber hoses in the tank? Mahalo!

Re: Fuel Pump Question

Yes sounds like the fuel pump is bad, change it and the fuel filter at the same time. Word of advise go get some fuel stabilizer and put it in the tank if you plan on letting the car sit for more than a month or two. Also 99% of the time when the fuel pump goes out it will still run but It'll be very weak.

I would change the fuel filter first. Start cheap, the if that does not work change the pump.

It will read the voltage going to the pump, but that won't tell you if its pumping fuel. Been there done that, I have a snap-on scan tool that does data logging and it sucks with older fords, chevy shows more parameters.
