Tinted Tail-lights?

I've been told that if you have tinted tail-lights and you get rear ended, the person can say it's your fault? Is that true?

As an ex cop law might be different from state to state . But with some of the cheesy lawyers out here today anything is possible . Might want to check with local law enforcement

I wouldn't risk it either. Not really worth it if you ask me. Plus, if some idiot didn't see your brake lights, you wouldn't have tail lights after that anyway.

Mine were like that too but I had to get rid of them. I was getting pulled over too much.

I have a couple of friends that have tail lights just as dark as mine and haven't gotten pulled over here, so I am hoping I don't either

It's usually the Florida State Highway patrol so be careful if you're ever visiting down here! I used to drive with my parking lights on when I was on the interstate because my lights were so translucent that you couldn't tell they were tinted as much or at all.

Re: Tinted Tail-lights?

Had a set on my old white 02. Put them on the cobra for a while and now they're on tiff's 04. Never had an issue with police, day or night.

Re: Tinted Tail-lights?

I only have an issue with getting tickets for them if I get pulled over for something else, then it's game on for them to see how many tickets they can get me for, and yes, blacked out lights is one of them. Otherwise then, no issue, I drive by cops all the time with no problem.

Lucky! I got pulled over a bunch just for light tint. $116 a pop just for one.

Re: Tinted Tail-lights?

Not to mention they are sneaky and put a lot of work into just catching speeders instead of taking car of the bigger problems.....

Re: Tinted Tail-lights?

It all depends on the sleazy *** lawyer they've got representing them, lol.

I've got the vinyl tint strips on mine and I've had no issues whatsoever. You can still clearly see the brake lights during the day and can't even tell they're on at night. Some people will get the 5% tint strips or spray 10 coats of VHT on them...that will get you tickets or into trouble, but 50% or 2 coats of spray would be fine, especially since your car is red.

I'd recommend the vinyl strips, so if you decide you don't want them on anymore or do get a ticket or warning to remove them, you can...with spray you have to buy new tail lights.

Here's mine with the tint strips on
