Sorry, I seem to be missing the point of this.

Are you trying to ask what's the best year to pick up a Mustang for $9,000?

Re: Good mustang year?

99-04 GT is probably where you would want to look in that price range. You could also pick up a pretty nice Fox for that too! I'm not a fan of the 94-98 bodystyle, but thats just me.

Re: Good mustang year?

yea, is there any difference within the 1994-2006? Wikipedia says no but I see alot of mustangs that look different from 1994-1998 and 1999-2006, might be hallucinating.

You could always clone a gt. Bumper cover, hood and emblems. Couple grand will get you close.

Second pic is the New Edge which is 99-04
Third is the S197 which is the 05-09
These are just random pics from Google. Hope this helps!

Ight thanks.
I wonder if the 05/10 years are going to be considered 'classics' in 50 years? They certainly have the right look for a modern day classic.

The 94 and 95 have the 5.0. In 96 they changed to the 4.6 engine.

Cool thing about the mustang unlike most other cars is there are so many different things you do to them to make it yours. Whatever your style might be.

I wonder if the guys back in the late 60's wondered if their cars would be "classics" one day. Only time will tell!

Re: Good mustang year?

Your choice of engine is really a personal preference. I don't really have much experience with the 4.6, but given the choice, I prefer the 5.0 pushrod engine over the modular overhead cam engine.
Easy to work on and they respond really well to mods.
The newer engines are good, but really I just prefer the pushrod 5.0!
I'm pretty old school, but I still like my fuel injection over a carbuerator.

Re: Good mustang year?

didn't quite understand that, I'm guessing the 4.6 has a better carbuerator and the 5 has fuel injection but whats a pushrod?

All 4.6's were fuel injected. The early 5.0 before 1985 were carbed. Sorry for the confusion.
All mustangs 86 and newer were fuel injected.
The pushrods are what operate the valves from the single camshaft in the engine.
The 4.6 has overhead camshafts, one cam in each head.

Right!
I figured that would help out a little on understanding the differences. The V8 works the same way, just double the pistons.

Drive through now, it's covered in snow!
I have always been a night owl. I work until midnight, then when I get home I like to have some down time until I go to bed. Then I sleep until 12 or 1. Been that way since I got out of high school.
I HATE waking up before 11 in the morning!!

Yeah, I'm a huge ahole if I get woke up before 11.
When I worked at the dealership as a salesman I had to be at work at 8am. I would get there before 8, then go sleep in my office until 10 or 11. Manager didn't care, I sold a lot of cars for him.

Lol my mom owns where I work so I sleep for a good couple hours as well. I'm her best employee tho and it's slow till 10 anyways.
Cobra did you ever have someone who's never drove shift test drive? I'm learning on an auto and never drove, but before I buy a car id like to test drive a similar one at a dealership or something. Would that be ok?

Re: Good mustang year?

lol, I wouldn't recommend trying to drive a stick on a newer car at a dealership. Definitely get some experience with a manual first. I never ran into anyone that wanted to drive a manual that didn't know how, but if I would have I probably would have told them to learn on one before they bought one.
Most people that I dealt with that didn't know how to drive a stick, preferred auto anyway.
