GT is a 260 HP 2V (2 valve per cylinder) 4.6L. 99 and 01 Cobras were 4V 4.6L and I believe around 320 HP. 00 Cobra R was a 4V 5.4 with an underrated 380 HP. 03-04 Cobra is a blown 4V 4.6 with an underrated 390 HP. Finally you have the 03-04 Mach 1 which was a 4V 4.6 similar to the 99 and 01 Cobras.

Of course, there are other differences in the models such as transmission, suspension, etc.

Sweet. Thankyou very much. I'm tying to figure out what sell my six for.

Can't go wrong with any of them...though the 99 cobras did have issues and weren't putting out the numbers they claimed...that's why Ford released no Cobra for 00, and did the N/A 5.4 R, and I highly doubt you'll pick one of them up at your age unless you wipe your *** with 50's and clearly in that case money is no option.

The 2v 99-04 GT's are probably the most affordable and are definitely a step up from the same year v6's. If you can handle a slightly larger loan you can pick up a decent Mach 1 or 01 Cobra and get the 4V DOHC 4.6L. If you want to go big, aim for the 03/04 Cobras, enough said.

Of course depending on the model you get different exterior/interior/performance upgrades. For example Mach's get the shaker scoop and unique c-pillars while cobras get the IRS and amber tail lights.

I'm thinking 01 cobra but I heard they are expensive. I can get about 5,000 for my six so hopefully the cobra won't be over 8,000 or so. What do u think? And are mach 1's expensive and hard to fine?

You'll be lucky to find a clean, low mileage GT for 8 grand.

K. Then maybe I will keep my six for another year. I want to collect mustangs eventually some day and I will start with a nice 99-04. Hopefully. But I want a GT so bad. I hate being called a ricer and people saying I have a phony pony.

Just keep your eyes open, a buddy of mine was going to buy a 98 cobra for 8 grand. Supercharged and bad all the way around. I wanna say it had 46k on the motor and tranny. Deals like that are out there, you just have to look.

That's awesome. I'm expecting around 100,000 mikes anyway but lower would be sweet. My 6 only has like 80,000

Re: Question

There was no '02, here anyway, and the difference in price between the '01 and '03 is quite a bit.

Now you see why Joshy has his own question thread. This way it doesn't clog up the rest of them.

Re: Question

and I woud also suggest getting mustang books
they have always been very helpful with questions like yours

I saw 1 the other day at barnes and noble that had every year, model mustang from 64 to 2011
showed all the engine sizes, specs and everything was pretty awesome but it was like $30 or $40 so I decided not too but I just might end up getting it anyways, lol
