My 2001 V6 had 2.25 inch pipe (they cut the Y pipe where it came together and welded on a pipe on each side (no balancer pipe not needed on an even fire motor)

Then they put the mufflers in the stock GT muffler spot, they were 2 chamber 40 series flow masters.

The final bit was 2.75 inch 22 inch long stainless steel angle cut exhaust tips where the factory ones on a GT are, but lower (no cut outs) and angled up about 5 degrees. The angling up is VERY important, if you make them even with the ground they will look pointed down due to the angle of the bumper. Angle em up! Trust me.

Cost was 300~ minus tips, tips were like 50 each cant remember where I got them. Do NOT go with chrome tips, they rust in no time, you do not want to see where the tip is welded on so you must go with a long tip unless you go with the GT bumper on the rear then you can tuck em up and hide that.

Re: Question

they may have improved the process compared to what it used to be, I took really good care of mine and they rusted rather quick. Maybe they chromed stainless or something~

Might be. You have a really nice custom exhaust set up btw. And not too bad of a price either

I don't want to rain on your forum here but no Matter what you do to a v6 exhaust it will never ever sound like a v8 . I know that I's what peole want there 6 cyl to sound like but never going to happen . A buddy of mine put a borla exhaust full cat back on his 2001 pony because someone told him at borla that it would sound like an 4.6 . That was the worst imitation of a 4.6 I have ever heard.

Mine doesn't sound like a gt, but it sounds good. You just can't get an even fire 6 to sound like an odd fire 8.

Yah I know. It can sound nice for a six though. I have heard some sixes I actually like more than some 8 believe it or not. Haha. but not normally

No you have a 6 cyl pony no need to be trying to make it look like something it not. I would keep it the way it is and quite . Make it a sleeper car if you want. I can respect that alot more than trying to make it clone a much faster version .

Have you ever drove a gt with a upgraded gear or a 03 cobra? If you have or do you will never want that v6 again. Dont get me wrong you can make a 6 fast but you have to dump a **** ton of cash into it and then it still hope you don't get your *** handed to you by a stock s/c cobra.

You might check your car and see if it's already wired for fogs.

Re: Question

Should be some empty harnesses hanging by where the foglights would mount up if it's already wired for them. You'll have to get under the car to look for them.

I'm going to say you are going to have to run your own switch for those fog lights. It would have a dead switch up by your shifter it it had the option.

If it's not already wired. Use a relay. It's complicated but it's safer than hard wiring.

If I buy a SCT SF3 / X3 Power Flash Tuner w/ 3 Free Custom Tunes, how much hp will I receive on the non racing tune if I have performance BORLA exhaust and a CAI installed ( I know they don't do anything lol) I just want to know the increase in torque and hp for a 01 v6

Actually, with a tune, it will do a little. Not much, maybe like 2 or 3 hp. But depending on the gas you use. Let's say your street tune is on 87~7-10hp, 89~12-17, 91~20hp. Race and performance are more aggressive.

Well. With the 91 octane tune and the performance one selected, 30 is easily possible. Just with the street one, it's not as aggressive.

Ok. That's good. So the street one can give me 30? I don't really want to put high octane fuel in my car. It's too expensive
