Re: Question

You need to have the gears and tlok professionally installed...period.

They are no simple install and there are many detailed measurements and tuning that need to be done with special, calibrated tools.

Do not buy a used tlok...spend the extra cash and purchase a new tlok. Do the same with the gears. Those are components you don't want to skimp out on.

You can burn out with your stock gears and drivetrain no problem, and you'll most certainly be able to with 4.10's and a tlok...but it doesn't really look good with an auto and it's really hard on your brakes, drivetrain and engine, not to mention your brakes.

It's one of those things you do a few times and get out of your system because you realize tires and brakes are expensive.

K joshy you get what you pay for. I had a pair of mtx rfl subs and they were unreal. I also had a pair of kicker comps and fosgates. I honestly wouldnt buy stereo equipment from wal-mart.

Well a playstation and a sub are different animals. I suppose they would be fine if you don't crank the gain on the amp all to hell. It's distortion that blows speakers. Subs aren't that expensive for good ones. For only a few dollars more you can buy quality. Your choice

Kicker makes a great product but be sure to find out what size of an enclosure they need before you buy. You only have so much trunk space so when you are chatting up the salesman get as much info as you can. If the box isn't big enough you will cook the voice coil

Sony subs are now where near kicker, alpine, jl and so on. Never by audio equipment from walmart. Even their boxes are cheap. At least head over to best buy, they carry some good entry level stuff.

I got them from my brother for free. You can buy the new model at best buy for around 200 a piece. The handle an extra 100 watts vs the last model so a total of 600 watts rms each. Even mine at 500 each were beast. A good amp is key, I will only buy Rockford, jl, kicker, alpine, or RE amps. They arnt cheap usually but the difference between them vs off brand is night and day, never skimp on the amp. I sold mine with the box for 100, super deal for the guy that bought em, I just needed space.

So best buy is my best bet? And I'm looking for a stereo for around 150 and I want it to be blue. Any ideas? Or just best buy again?

You will not get anything for that little. Unless you get lucky and find something on craigslist. Retail for subs box amp and wiring for anything decent plan on around 400+ bucks. Golden rule applies here, you get what you pay for. If you spend 150 on a system you will not be happy with it and end up spending more money to replace it. If you buy stereo stuff on craigslist verify that it works and the rms wattage ratings. I see too many garbage amps and subs on there that say "2000 watt amp and subs" yet when you look up the equipment it will have and rms of 200 watts or does not have an rms rated at all. Peak power means nothing and is an unregulated marketing scam. NEVER buy an amp or subs that the manufacturer does not list the nominal power ratings.

If your just looking to give your music a fuller sound, they may suffice. If looking for loud and clean, they will not. It depends on how much bass you are looking for.

Not a system. Just the stereo. With the controls on it

A head unit (your cd player/radio) , 150 should get you a decent one.

I have never bought anything but alpine decks. I am sure there are others that are also of good quality but after my first one about 15 years ago I am sold...

I dunno about other stuff tho joshy. There is lots that better out there I have just never had alpine fail on me and I open the doors up and crank the tunes all day at work so it freezes up at -30 and in the dustclouds of Saskatchewan the tunes are still cranking. And the abuse bouncing in my truck 4x4ing like dude,I abuse everything I own and they keep ticking
