Wheels

Is there any advantage to having 2 or 3 piece wheels compared to solid rims. This can be for alloy, aluminum, steel, or any kind of wheel. Thanks for the input guys and gals.

Re: Wheels

If you damage the wheel, an individual piece can be repaired/replaced. Sometimes they are lighter than a single piece wheel.

Other than that... no. A single piece wheel will be stronger than a multi-piece wheel. I've read about people with multi-piece wheels having issues with stress fractures and such in the wheels. If you're worried about it from a "which one is better" standpoint: Get a single piece, forged wheel. That's as strong as you can get.

Otherwise, just get whatever wheel you feel looks best.

Well said. A lot of it has to do with where you live and what you use the car for. I have steel single due to pot holes. There really bad in ohio and can make short work of multi piece rims.

Re: Wheels

yea a three piece wheel is more easily repaired, but requires assembly bolts. A two piece you dont have to have the assembly bolts if you dont want them as they are welded together.
