Who thinks this is logical?

My brother has a 2000 mustang gt roush clone. And his friend has a 92 coupe. My brother lives beside us and the 92 sits at my brothers house. Me and my dad kinda fell out with my brother. Anyway, the guy has a 2 1/2 cowl hood. But it's got a 5.0 EFI. Anyone see the logic in having a cowl hood for an efi? Maybe he wants it to look cool or something? I don't know. It's got a few things done to it, I would have left the stock god on it and made it a sleeper. I know some people do that to their mustangs but, why waste the money on one, when you could surprise people if it was a sleeper.

If it's a notchback, that big hood looks cool. Maybe not a 5 inch, but 2or3 for sure. Just for the look. I love the notch but it is a really plain looking car stock.

Yea. But my point, on an efi..that's like 250-400 dollars depending.

Hey man, it's just what you like. The cool thing about having a mustang. Customizing. I had a notch. Big hood and no spoiler. Big back tires. Just a cool look. Is the cowl hood pointless, yep unless there's ice on your windshield.

That's the thing about modding. The only person that has to be happy with it is him. Even if it looks like utter crap as long as he is happy

Weight savings in fiberglass vs. metal hood. If you're going fiberglass, might as well get a cowl.

Re: Who thinks this is logical?

My brother in law wants a 4" on his '86 EFI. I wouldn't do it to my car, cause I don't see the point, but to each their own I guess. I'll still tell him it looks stupid and is pointless....

It is personal opinion, but he doesn't care about weight reduction. Just my opinion..that it's pointless.

Your car looks great without it, but a small cowl hood can give it just a little more aggressive look.

That is a BEAUTIFUL '93. I've seen you post over at SVTP as well.
I wouldn't put one any bigger than a 2" if I wasn't keeping her stock. I had a 2" on my '85 Vert, but it was carbed and functional. Had the air cleaner housing sealed to the hood with weather stripping and the hood had a big hole in it. It's almost like I can't see sh** when I go over a hill with something like a 4". My '84 came with a 4", so I traded for a stock one with a scoop, plus made $100.

Re: Who thinks this is logical?

I love cowl hoods. I think it gives it an awesome aggressive look, even if it serves no purpose. If I had the money to blow, I'd by a carbonfiber or fiberglass 4" cowl hood. Even though it would just be for looks. Sooo sexy.

Re: Who thinks this is logical?

ok guys.... i got a 3 or 4 inch on my notch. i got a bbk ssi intake with a 1inch phenolic spacer cause of my tall ford motor sport valve covers which i needed for the larger body roller rocker arms, and it's damn close. i still needed the cowl hood when i was running the typhoon efi intake, it rubbed the shyte outa the stock hood.

and now im finding out that i have to run a cowl on my 97 cause the bbk wont fit under the stock hood of it, let alone an additional one 1 inch from the spacer.

my 90 tbird was an efi i converted, a stock "mustang/fox body" intake will not fit under the hood...so i had to put a cowl on it.

alot of aftermarket efi intakes wont fit under a stock hood, especialy if you run a phenolic spacer.

i was glad to get rid of my stock hood on my notch, im not all excited on my 97 though, but it's that, or i drive round wit no hood....did that too long on my notch..not cool.
