My next door mechanic told me to check the plugs if they are white that means too lean, tan is good, and black well....

You're not gonna go by that as long as cel is on. Wait till mil eliminators and run it for a while after that. Check plugs after that.

Im saying I don't really know the terminology of things like for example BR= baton rouge. Never heard it put that way...

Yup. You can really tell alot from reading the plugs. I check them against the pics in my Haynes manual
