Ok. Update. I put some bbk. Shorty headers. And took of the mufflers and put some pypes with resonator tips. It sounds like a straight up race car. It also added some good mid range power. I freaked out when it took the guy all day to put in the headers and pulled out some pretty good stock looking headers. I thought I was going to be disappointed but it did improve the back flow to little to none. And increased the roar of the car when you open the throttle. Next is the CAI w tune. Can't wait. But will have to wait until august. ****

Re: what are the first mods. I should do to a 2011 5.0.

Not to be a Debbie downer but Ford did alot with those new headers on the 2011 so you wouldn't have to even think about a aftermarket shorty. IMO,you should have gone LTs for some nice gains. I'm interested to see what kind of gains you get, dyno time in the near future? Again this is my opinion and what matters is your opinion about the car and if you are happy with it!

Yes you are right. I was not expecting to see the headers that came off the car. But there is a better flow but not the gains that american muscle had adverse. Over all the sound and looks it was changed the most. But I know I will get some results from the tune and CIA

Once they are on the car.....they are yours. If you don't have a tune yet you are gonna love it. If you are doing a Bama tune I would suggest running the race tune, throttle response is awesome. BTW,what gear option did you go with?

I don't know which gears I have. I don't have the sticker anymore and don't have the invoice. How else can I tell? Its seems to pull hard in 1-4 and cruzz at 70mph at about 1800rpms. I get 26mpg in 6th at 70 mph

We need gear, speed, and RPM to figure it out. Or even easier,

Lay on ground
Pull yourself under car
Locate big pumpkin piece of metal
Look at what the gear ratio is.

Simple.

Re: what are the first mods. I should do to a 2011 5.0.

Use a floor jack to lift the car then look at the diff for the gear ratio. Its worth it right?

no floor jack required, simply use 275 lbs of force to pick up the back end of the car and look

in all seriousness, it sounds like 3.73's to me

taller or wider? and as you might know, lower profile tires give a more responsive tire (sidewall cant give) but also delilver a more harsh ride. if you want taller, its simple, just take the middle number (the aspect ratio) and go up. I would start small, such as .05 increments. For example, right now you've got 235/50R18. Technically taller will equate to 235/55R18. Usually this is all you can go with out suspension modification/ wheel well hollowing out.

If you want to be absoulutly sure, just go to discount tire company and tell them what you want and that you want to see it before you purchase it. I can ALMOST guarantee that they will work with you because they think they'll get your business. Just dont take all day figuring it out, I cant vouch for the tolerance of whoever your salesman is.

I hope that answers your question, let us know how it goes
