mardi gras day project: painting calipers

so today i painted my front calipers with the duplicolor kit and put on decals i got from southern mustang parts. the prep was def the hardest part lol i spent forever sanding to get it clean and it still wasnt all the way clean i think. i used 180 grit but the instructions inside the box called for 300-400 grit so ill get those for the backs whenever i do them. well see how it holds up over time. i read on here that the duplicolor brush is crappy so i bought a 1 inch brush. it turned out to be too big for the smaller parts so i used the supplied duplicolor one and it worked fine for me. also another thing is that i tried to take my calipers off to paint the whole thing but i couldnt for the life of me get the damn bolts to budge. when i switched brake pads a couple years ago one of the bolts was frozen to the threads and when the shop took it out they had to rethread the holes. do u think this same thing has happened again?anyways here are the pix:

this is what it looked like when i started working lol:

sanded and cleaned with brake cleaner:

taped off with newspaper

with the paint on:

with the decal. it looks kinda green but its actually a light blue pretty close to ford racing blue. its a little lighter than my blue on my front license plate but close enough. it really pops:

through the wheels. it was pouring rain all day today so yes the wields are filthy:

Did you put a clearcoat? Go back & clean then lightly wet sand and put a clear coat.

Nice it looks good. Don't worry about the dirty wheels mine haven't been cleaned in almost 2 months. Were getting all that good stuff tomorrow.

definatley looks nice. i imagine the clear coat would help your stang decal last longer too.
