Exclamation What happens when you blow out a spark plug.

I just had my spark plugs changed by Ford Dealer. I notice my car is acting a little different.

What are the tall tail signs of blow plug, due to improper install?

Re: What happens when you blow out a spark plug.

if the plugs blown out you will hear a ticking ( or compression )type sound coming from under your coil cover , maybe even hear the plug rattling around under the cover .. and of coarse a MISS .....
the Dohc's aren't prone to do this they have a lot more plug thread in the cylinder head then the 2 valve motors .i'm not saying it won't happen ,they just don't have the problem like 2 vlv does ...

Re: What happens when you blow out a spark plug.

Good tip. I got the car back and I notice an exhaust leak near the top part of the down pipe. Not sure if it was coincidence for if they hit my exhaust due to it being lowered. Not sure. Either way I haven't drove it enough to tell due to ****ty weather in MI.

I may also have an exhaust leak... I hear a high pitched tick sound around 1400rpms that goes away right after in every gear constantly.... is it bad to have a small exhaust leak?

also I would double check those plugs... you know you require special heat ranges with your blower and the OEM ones probably are not right... and not to mention there were like 3 plugs used in the 03 cobras... also the gap needs to be set right.

The tq spec is like 15newton meters / or around 11 inch pounds.

Dru. Has your car been tuned since you have been having it?(dyno tuned). I've noticed that all custom tuners have a plug preference. Oem plugs may not be what you need. Those guys know what plug to run with their tunes. It makes a difference.

I think I am going to just leave it alone till I take it to Paul's High performance for its new tune in 3 weeks. I will have them diagnose to problem and fix it for good!

I called my Tuner and they said to put in copper core plugs. the dealer had to order these in for me. So I am certain they have the right plugs. Weather they are gaped right who F*cking knows.

Your tuner should take care of that for you. Should have left the tune to him too.

Re: What happens when you blow out a spark plug.

I got to have my car be bullet proof on the road here in a month. I have been talking a lot of Sh*t to my buddy's and they are ready to race. Specially my friend with a modded Mercedes E55. And another with a vette.

I MUST WIN! I hate to Lose!

Tune was done by EFI Logics, a company in Connecticut prior to me taking ownership last fall.
