Manual is way more fun, gets power to the ground better. I would never buy a performance car with an auto. I love 5000 rpm dumps

Re: Manny vs Auto

Ya I'd say 99% of the people will say manual for a street/occasional track car.

But if you build a strictly track car, I'd say a powerglide or something along those lines...you can't beat the consistency of an auto...but damn manuals sure are fun

Your right. An auto is consistent and if it's just a drag car an auto is the way to go.

Manual for anything but a big truck for hauling and pulling. Auto trucks pull more weight.

I like my auto. I think I would have trouble if I was in the city because of stopping and going all the time. Auto is just easier but manny is more fun

Re: Manny vs Auto

I prefer a manual transmission if that's what you're asking. Much more fun rowing through the gears.

However, I prefer an auto over manny ramirez which seem to be the question you asked originally.

It just depends what vehicle you are driving. Manual in a mustang pretty much because ford can't build an auto trans for ****. C3 and C4 are ok but no OD. If I owned a camaro or vette, auto for sure. It is also a reason that hot rod builders go with gm power plants. Trans options.

It's somewhat dependent on your setup too. My '90 is a ***** to drive in traffic because the clutch is pretty damn stiff. When I had my '06 though, the clutch was like butter... Not an issue at all in stop and go traffic.

lmao... you just need more power dude. my racing aod w/2700 stall spools up to 5800 faster than a scared rabbit. no missed shifts...boost stays spooled up all the way to overdrive.

however, my new stang im building will be t-5 (cause it already has a stick in it with a new clutch)till i rip out the syncros or the clutch and then my aod is goin in.

Blah traffic doesn't concern me. I used to sit in it everyday for an hour at a time to and from. Still felt the same way.

The only thing I hate is the abuse your clutch is taking while sitting in that traffic getting going a million times over the course of 5 miles. Then I tend to get lazy on the clutch and gas out of boredom and I know it causes me to put excess heat into the clutch.

But, like bbunt, I have a nice light clutch so the clutch motion really isn't an issue.
