98 to Fox advice

I got a 98 v6 right now and it's in tip top shape. The engine runs great with no heat, start, and driving issues. Its had the same weight and brand of oil throughtout its life and the original owner babied it and i doubt ever red-lined it .The paint on it is pretty good. The hood has some scratches on it from rocks and the heat it but the rest of the body is good; the paint is also kept up in the sense it shines beautifully with no fade from the So Cal sun. The interior has no tears and stains with an audio upgrade.
Now since I'm getting my own place and can't get my cobra I need an 8 badly. I see these nice lookin foxes on here, and the price of them isn't bad at all. So I'm thinking about trading or selling for one. The crappiest part is that I'm from So Cal and I rarely see a clean fox. I see like 5 foxes a week at the very most and their all beat to ****. Give me some advice on what to look for and do. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Are those common issues when buying these cars.

Re: 98 to Fox advice

not on all of them obviously. but if u live in the rust belt it's definatley worth your due diligence to at least look. also check out the torque boxes if it was a v8 car that was heavily modified

Yea any car that has been kept down by the beach will have some rust issues, they always seem to do. Is the trans on the fox a sturdy one. I don't know little to anything on fox strong and weak points. Im wondering if I found one with a some mods done if the trans should be replaced if it hasn't been already

Re: 98 to Fox advice

if its a nice super clean fox it will be costly, sometimes saving up front = spending more in the end.

You get what you pay for type of thing. what is the price range for a clean fox that won't need any fixing up, or won't need more than a few hundred bucks put in for small stuff.

I agree with all the above take your time and look them over very good or have them checked out by someone you can trust or knows about them also.

Good Luck

The fox that catches my eye the most I think is the 87-89 lx notch. What's a good price range on those. I don't know what the production time span for those is so forgive me if I'm wrong.

The 87-93 where single head lights on each side but have the same body. I paid 1700 for mine with two bald tires and a red hood on a black car. I already had rims, tires, and cowl hood. I only got 2k in my car but it could use a paint job but overall good shape except torque box from big launches with Alot of spray
