Re: need some help

I think that the '08 Shelby would be my choice. It will be mod accessible like crazy. The new Coyote engine does not growl at all like the '08 GT will. Sounds superficial but it will effect the driving experience every second. Also being a Shelby, your at an advantage being set up with the name and parts people only dream of.
On the other side, The new 5.0 is a 5.0! It is a perfect car. Horespower and torque are both desirable entities given to you right off the show room floor. There is always that experience of driving home the first time in a brand new car (let alone a Mustang) knowing that you are the first. That smell each time you climb into the cabin. And the technology advances Ford has provided.
You are in a win/win situation. Congratulations and please post pictures when you get home with it.

Re: need some help

the Shelby GT is basically a GT mustang that costs more and one you wont be able to sell for full value as every bank everywhere see's that car as a normal GT... this is a strong word of warning. A friend of mine spent MONTHS trying to sell his Shelby GT (amazing condition super low miles (5k) and could NOT sell no buyer could get funds.

I would get a normal GT

It depends on what your budget will bear. If you choose the Shelby don't buy it as an investment. The new Shelby's may never appreciate and if they do it will be a long time from now. My advise...if you plan to keep the car forever and like to participate in car shows...buy the Shelby. If not, by the 5.0

I say it's your car you decide what you think you will be the most happy with.

I bought my 2011 5.0 about 4 months ago. Awesome stang, you can't go wrong with the new 5.0. Also went to my dealership the other day ( to see the new 2012 boss 302) and the salesman said that ford is offering 0% financing for the 2011 gt, s.

Re: need some help

I say get the new 5.0 car you will be much happier with a brand new car as the first owner of it also.
I also agree with above that the shelby will not be worth any investment amount anytime soon for sure.

27k isn't a bad deal for the GT depending on the miles BUT unless you're planning on keeping it forever as a collector then go with a 5.0............I got the GT only because of my passion for Shelby and I couldn't get a 500!! haha but while a whipple could boost your power through the roof on the GT I'd still go with the 5.0....
