Burn smell

My new 2011 mustang v6 has a burn smell after I parked it and went out smelled it. It has 300 kms on it now but this happened after I was going like 60 km/h then pressed the gas pedal hard to like 100km/h.
I drove it gently for the first 300 km and this was the first time I try to accelerate with it.
Is this a bad sign? Did I burn something? Or is it because it's a new car?

New engines and exhausts are lightly coated with a Protectant so they don't rust during storage. It will burn off in time. Don't worry about it.

Re: Burn smell

Same thing I was going to say I think it take a while for the new motor coating they use to burn off. I would think as long as you are not seeing smoke or puddles under it you are safe also.

Re: Burn smell

could be brake line leaking a bit (not 100%) tight? but new cars make smells as said as they wear in. You can run by ford to let a tech smell it and see if its something they know.
