03 Mach 1 carbureted with crank trigger distributor

N/A on Mustang Dyno
424.8 rwhp @ 7100 rpms (7300 rpm run on dyno)
347.3 rwt @ 5208 rpms

This was at 27 degree initial timing, Ironically, we made more hp as we lowered timing vs increasing?? No detonation at all up to 34 degrees on Sunoco GT Plus 104 unleaded. This more then likely being the shape of cylinder chambers with the custom domed JE pistons. The lesser timing seems to be where the optimum quench is.

Next dyno session we will are installing a Pro Systems highly modified 650 carb that flows 950 cfm..lean the air/fuel slightly, remove the Mac Pro chamber pipe & pro dump hooker mufflers. Install outlaw mufflers straight off the collectors.

The last run of the night, one of the alternator coolant crossover bolt head broke off..?? So we ended the evening.

Re: 03 Mach 1 carbureted with crank trigger distributor

Couple vids from a few months ago when we fired the motor up for the first time. Open headers!

Next N/A dyno session I will be pulling the exhaust system off and dyno with flowmaster outlaw shorty mufflers off of the header collectors. Will be installing a modified Pro Systems 650 carb that came off of a 650+hp 316ci 9500 rpm street warrior 90 GT. Should see another 15+ rwhp around 7200-7300 rpms. Which means we pull the motor to about 7450 on the dyno. We were pulling it to 7250 rpms in the vid I posted.

Then start testing the small shot of nitrous and eventually my goal is to be at 250 shot this summer.

Re: 03 Mach 1 carbureted with crank trigger distributor

Just finished up with Patrick of Pro Systems Racing Carbs. I just ordered the Pro series XC with annular booster style, like the dominators. This carb will be good with up to a 300+ shot. The cfm will be around 880 according to Patrick with all the specs he has on my motor. Should be worth about another 15 rwhp N/A.

What kind of shot are you running now? How much do you think the block can handle?

Back in 2007 I was running a 175 NX shot on the factory long block motor, running High 10's. 10.73 @ 128mph being my best. I'm planning on 250 shot with this motor. Next dyno session we will start with a small shot to test the system..

The block can handle 800 hp..

$790 + $16 shipping/insurance.. Not bad for a custom built & wet flow race carb based on your specific motor specs..

Re: 03 Mach 1 carbureted with crank trigger distributor

Just noticed exactly how raised that hood is. Sitting straight up your going to look like your ghetto cruisin. Does the car have barber shop seat in there to pump up until you can see over it?

Nice numbers though! Im sure it gets up and goes real nice

Wild Bill, how ya doing??? Your right, I am chicken I just got it back Saturday. Drove it 37 mi home from Jeff's shop. Took it out the last 3 days to a empty industrial parkway, practicing shifting at 7800 rpms 2nd & 3rd on the face plated trans, what a rush!! Last night I changed out the BR30 break in oil.

When I get back from vacation June 20th, I plan a trip to the track. Having some issues with the nitrous.

LOL, 3 yrs ago I was running 10.80's-10.70's on the factory motor with 175 shot, with a minor pucker... Now it's a new creature, dam right I'll be nervous first time going down the track It's quuicker now N/A (and lighter) then it was on nitrous 3 yrs ago. And soon, a 250 shot!

The motor wants to hit 8000 rpms in 1st & 2nd like nothing to it with the drag exhaust on.. I have the rev limiter set at 7800 rpms for now and bounced it in 1st & 2nd yesterday... I'm very impressed with the trans shifting with ease at these rpms.
