My Mach 1 is now 8 years old , she just hit 49,000 miles ,and the rims are ( were ) perfect , No chips , nicks, nada ... I even wax and keep the inside of the rims spotless ...
well last night I kissed a curb , AAAAAAHHHHHHHH
I almost couldn't sleep ,its driving me crazy !!!!!
Its about a 4 inch muff on the rim lip ...at this point I'm thinking of buying a new rim , I'm so anal I can't stand myself sometimes ..........
Just thought I'd vent !!!!!! .............. any opinions ?

Re: Curb Rash !!!!!

You could try polishing it out, but I don't know the finish you have on there.

Sucks when we do something stupid like that. I know ***** happens, but when you take care of something like that I can sympathize with your pain.

Re: Curb Rash !!!!!

you could take this as a sign to buy 10.5 inch mach 1 replicas for out back lol

since those are polished/brushed etc you CAN have it repaired but at the cost... its just about worth it to get a new one

Re: Curb Rash !!!!!

Spec I'd luv to but the afternarket ones are painted black ,the stockers are more like an argent grey color so they don't match

Re: Curb Rash !!!!!

i did that the other day as well.. the bank ATM has the weirdest little path, tons of black marks on the curb leading up to it because everyone hits it. i just used some black polish, pretty close to my rims color. you can only tell its messed up if your standing right there

Re: Curb Rash !!!!!

Ouch! I have 2 AR Torque Thrust M's in my basement with curb rash...one from me and one from my mom years ago. I was extremely pissed with myself when I scuffed up the one as well...I was going to have it re-finished, but it was only ~$25 more for a new rim so I opted for that. I put another Sumitomo tire on it and it's my spare

Re: Curb Rash !!!!!

Have you thought about getting the wheel refinished? The guy I work for has had his wheels refinished several times and they always looked great but I'm not sure who he used. A guy in the NJStangers Club used USA Wheels in Fairfield to repair a Foose wheel that was damaged during shipping. He seemed happy with their work when I talked to him. The thread has links to several other repair companies in and around NJ:

Wheel Collision Center Bath PA
Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists - New Jersey
All in the Details
KwickSilver Wheel repair
Shop Tire Barn - Alloy
The Best Rim Repair in NJ

Couldn't hurt to call a few of them...

If I look at my Rims with anything less than devout love and appreciation; my rims get effed. I gave up trying to make them look beautiful and will just get new ones when I'm able to afford it.

Re: Curb Rash !!!!!

Also check around locally. Before I bought my Acura TL, when I looked at the car I noticed rash on one wheel. They sent the wheel to a place near Baltimore MD and they rebuild the lip and repolished the wheel to like brand new for around $50...of course that was Acuras price but it might be cheaper than buying a new wheel unless you want to upgrade of course.

Wow, I thought I was the only one. I had on my 07 Focus brand new Ford Racing Rims, I took really nice care of them and one day pulling out of Chilis, I forgot I was parked next to a curb. I was about to order a new rim just because I couln't sleep lol, but then I traded the car for the new Mustang.
