Re: rumble!!??

An aftermarket H pipe or X pipe will make the car louder. The best thing would be to go on youtube and check out wht other stangs sound like.

If you want louder go with the o/r mid pipe. H will make it deeper and x will be a little louder but raspier. O/r stands for off road and has no cats.

Are you in an area where you can have an off-road exhaust?

Re: rumble!!??

A H pipe is probably what you are looking for. X pipes are pretty raspy.

DEQ = Department of Environmental Quality

Every 2 years in Clark County you have to get your emissions checked by DEQ.

I heard they don't sniffer your ride unless it's pre-2005 or something like that.

Re: rumble!!??

DEQ???????????? we just have the people do it whenever you get the car inspected.....now if that's the case you can find a shady hole in the wall that will pass it for a little extra money or run it until you get caught...which will happen once every 5-7 years on average

Re: rumble!!??

I know guys that run whole fleets of trucks on expired tags for years and get maybe 1 every year...and that one ticket doesn't cost half what it costs to inspect and tag the truck........but I'm in no way encouraging anybody to break the law!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even if it is a cheaper way to go and allows you to do what you wish with your car.....

and Pete I believe we have made the site our ***** this evening!

This evening of morning? I'm going to look more into the sniffer part of DEQ because I'll be running an O/R X-Pipe with straight 3" and no mufflers. Figure I'll be putting the four bangers with fart cans to shame on exhaust sound in no time?

Re: rumble!!??

If cats aren't required, get an off road mid pipe, H or X, your choice.....that will give you the sound you're looking for

Be careful, some midpipes don't fit with automatics.

Another benefit to driving a manual.

Keep factory pipe for emissions tests, then swap to the o/r pipe the rest of the year.

DEQ only puts the sniffer on the exhaust for '95 & older vehicles in WA. If you're running a tune, I'll bet you pass.

If they do an OBDII test, not the race tune I'd bet. Moot though - just swap it out for one of the performance tunes for the inspection, it'll put the sensors back on line in a few miles.

According to what the DEQ tech told me yesterday, people do it all of the time. Washington State hasn't gotten strict enough to search for tuners that turn sensors off. The only thing the DEQ computers look for is any codes that are throwing OR if the computer has been reset recently. If you're getting ready to head to DEQ & flashed your computer recently, make sure you drive your car for a few days before going to the city to check your car. The tech told me yesterday that people drive their cars in catless with straight pipe exhausts & there's not a damn thing DEQ can or will do about it, they leave it up to local law enforcement to worry about stuff like that.
