So, I've been trying to find a place to mount my amp recently and I haven't had any luck... Then I thought, hmm, I have that jack under the spare, wonder how much space that takes up... So I made a model amp off the specs I saw on alpines site, and... It will fit!

Rerouted my wires, cleaned up my install, now just waiting on the amp which should be here Monday. Here are some pics. The trunk and how hidden the wires are, under the mat, and the ground wire.

Btw, this is to have it hidden, and to keep it from getting stolen(don't want to mention how its being locked down on an open forum).

The amp is a very efficient, cool running amp with a multistage heat protection system. Honestly I just don't want it to get stolen or be plainly visible when I open the trunk.

Any questions or concerns about this location?

Good idea.....

Are you going to be without a spare jack?

As you mentioned, my only real concern would be heat. You need to make sure it's not gong to overheat under there.

Nah, I'm just gonna throw my jack under the passenger seat. And if I have any problems with heat, I'll find some way to vent it...

Nice man. Ive been looking into making my spare wheel well a sub and amp enclosure after watching West Coast Customs do it to an 06 GT. I already ripped my spare tire, jack assembly, and carpet from the trunk so if just needs speakers to go in it.

you will have to come up with something so the trunk floor wont fall in when you put anything in there.

Re: Found a place to mount my amp!

That's a pretty good idea...I had the concern of the amp getting beaten up sitting in the trunk because my trunk is always FULL..not easy going from a 250 to a mustang so I love this idea!!!! And on the plus I do not have a spare tire but the comparment is still there so I can rig up some sort of rack to make it where each side of the amp has air around it to prevent overheating thanks for the plan man!!!

Alpine mrx-m50. Alpines newest line of amps rated at 500 watts, average get rated at about 560ish. Heres a video if you're interested, kind of a long video, but it really shows you how nice of an amp it is

Aren't amps out there pushing 1000+ watts for cheap mow days?

Alpine is really good, And good prices too. I've heard good things about pioneer and Polk audio too. What's your budget though? And what do you really want? A good clean sounding system or a loud as$ one to make the old lady next to you at the stoplight jump?

Haha, sorry, idk.. Start a thread, tons of people on here have some good experience with a bunch of different brands. (kind of threw me off with the mention of a nice soundsystem...)

You can help me I prefer a nice clean system, no reason to scare the innocent old lady next to me at the stop light plus it's more spendy that way

I think when I run straight pipe exhaust and get some decent headers I will stop listening to my stereo and be soothed by the sounds of a louder V8.

But I'd still like a nice system for the times the engine isn't what I'm in the mood for, my car is a DD so that might explain that haha

Years prior I invested in factory reconditioned MTX Thunders. They hit fairly well and got worked in nicely. The only downside was they sounded soft after a few years but still had a great all around sound quality to them.
