Rear diff fluid

Hey guys, so I've been reading up on what rear diff fluid I should use in my 96 gt & I'm getting confused. Some people say I don't need friction modifier if I use full synthetic & others say I do. Is it better to run full synthetic? I've never done this before so if you guys could give me some help it would be greatly apreciated. Thanks

Re: Rear diff fluid

I would stay away from synthetic and just use regular fluid with friction modifier.

What brand diff and what brand gears? You probably already have full synthetic in it. Ford uses full synthetic and yes you need the friction modifier

Re: Rear diff fluid

if you have a tlok unit (OEM on GT mustangs) then you need friction modifier. Some comes in the fluid already and some fluids dont have it already. Thats the question you need to answer.

Well the car had the gears when I bought it. Is there a way I can find out what brand gears is has & what brand the diff is? The previous owner Said the diff was rebuilt not replaced so I'm assuming it's stock but if there's a way I can check I will do that.
