Gas

Is it worth the money fill up premium or mid-grade, or is it fine to fill up with regular. What type of gas do you fill up with?

Re: Gas

if a car is tuned for premium then running it will make it have better performance. Pre 11 Mustang GT's are not tuned for premium so it doesnt do anything to run it, no use. The 2011 GT is designed to run on 87 or premium etc and makes more power when it does.

Having it tuned for premium of course helps.

Re: Gas

plus if you just read in the manual it will tell u what gas is the correct octane for ur engine. Different octanes just explode in different ways, the gas is not better just meant for engines tuned to obtain energy more efficiently from these patterns.

Re: Gas

Like stated above run regular unless it's been tuned otherwise. I ran regular in my 98GT for the entire time I had it without issues plus now in my 03 Roush

Re: Gas

more horsepower potentially when you have it tuned for higher octane gas as long as u put in the same octane as u tune it for. Also some people can get pinning when using lower octane fuel and using a higher octane fuel could help with that also.

More octane allows you to run more timing which generates more power. That is what is setup in a 93 octane tune.

You need to run regular in your car otherwise the only real performance gain you will get is having your wallet be a little lighter.

Haha yeah I think I'll just stick with regular, I had a friend who had a 04 Mach 1 and he told that I would gunk up my pistons if I ran regular.

I love how some people assume 87 is "crappy gas"

I fill up using premium gas. It's my understanding that you lose some hp when using regular gas. The new 5.0 adjust the timing for you depending on the gas you use.
