Updates and questions

Well I have gone through and bought the smoke tint for my tail lights and the projector halogen headlights this week. Parts should be in later this week early next week. The next thing I want to take on is the suspension but I have a few questions to go along with. First h&r offers a. 1.7 front 2.4 back lowering springs and I was wondering if anyone runs anything similar and if they have the body dragging blues often. I am also open to your recommendations for different lowering kits. The other one I was interested in was the ford racing 1.5 in drop on the front and rear. As for my next question, is this a do it yourself job or a take it to the shop job. I am pretty mechanic experienced but my tools are kind of limited here plus I would have to take it to the shop to verify my alignment doesnt get thrown out of whack.

Finally any words of advice other then good luck with installing vinyl tail light tint. Understand soapy water hair dryer and have the hazards on to make sure I can verify that I am not letting any light come around the edges.

Don't know if this will work well from my iPhone but here is a link to the new headlights I am installing. As I see a lot of I will provide before after and during install pics upon completion

Re: Updates and questions

the drop wont be that bad normal driving, you will just have to watch that front bumper and K member going over speed bumps and parking on curbs~ thats most of it. Going in to areas on inclines at an angle will also be a must.

Thanks for the info. I work on a military base so the speed bumps are what I am concerned about. So I put on the brake light tints and it came out rather disappointing look for yourself. Contacted the company they said send pics

The vinyl looks like it's cut a little too short. Hopefully the company you bought from is going to do something about that!

Re: Updates and questions

Update on the tints one of my tints that was flat lastnight is flat no more bubbled up in the afternoon and unable to push the bubbles out to the edge a fantastic cluster to say the least

Re: Updates and questions

I have a 2011 5.0 with the FRPP K springs (1.5) and it sits perfect with my 20' Boss wheels. There are no issues with bumper or K member scrapping over speedbumps. Here are some photos......

Thanks for the photos bud!! A question for you, do you go over obnoxious speed bumps very often and after dropping 1.5 on both front and back how much do you notice the back end pitched like a muscle car v.s. a sports car?

Re: Updates and questions

I stay away from the speedbumps if I can but I have been over some pretty big ones with no issues. But if you see a LARGE speedbump common sense is gonna tell you to avoid it anyway. Pitch.......as in?

Re: Updates and questions

yeah the reason i ask is because I am in the navy and the military bases love their speed bumps in and out of the gates which would make this a daily occurrence with me. I think I am going to try to talk to the gate guards to letting me get out and measure how far up my bumper is from the speed bump before my tire reaches and starts going over.

Pitch meaning the natural look of a muscle car is with the back end higher then the front not extremely noticable on the stock suspension but I have an eye for that and I was wondering after dropping both ends of the car 1.5 in if it is still noticeably higher off the ground then the front

The FRPP k springs? Its a super easy install and will take about 1 1/2 hrs if that.

Haha, yeah... I visited him a few times. The weather there sucks. Always rainy, it's never a good time to drive a stang

So I got a reply on the tail light tints on friday and they have sent out new ones to me without wanting the old ones back. They matched my shipping that I had the original ones sent so they should be here on Tuesday and I will install them on Wednesday. The problem I am having is that all of the tints I have received are short unless i stretch them out which i am not really a fan of doing because I use a hair dryer to help get them to bond quicker and it causes them to shrink. I installed the parking lamps and turn signal lamps and I had the same problem so I stretched those out but they came up a little short no biggy a little black touch up pain on the edges of those will work fine but the back lights being as short as they are would not have worked with that method

Re: Updates and questions

alright so I installed the tints today...same problem slightly short resolved the issue on my own with a hair dryer etc. They are drying right now I will post pics later when I can get a good shot of them. If anyone decides to do this I really suggest they talk to me before hand because I didn't stretch the right places out perfect until the last one go figure and it worked out perfect that time. Another thing is you have to baby sit these things like a 2 year old in a knife shop. They will heave and move around slightly so if perfectionism on your cherry mustang is your thing keep an eye on them. I wouldn't be doing this though if they weren't worth the trouble black plastic covers for the tail lights just kind of look bulky and corny in my opinion so they sleek look of the tints is the only way for me to go.
