2003 Supercharged Mach 1 - Thoughts?

I had this listed in another thread and on my FB and am trying to get some serious opinions on this car. It's at a local dealership and I have an appointment to drive it and talk to the sales guys at 10:45am. It is a Competition Orange Mach 1 with a Kenne Belle supercharger, a Roush body kit complete with side exhaust. I am also purchasing some Black bullitt wheels that I was going to see how they looked on the sixxer but if this works out, I'll be throwing them on the Mach 1. I've always loved Mach 1's and I think this would be a great one to own. It has 77k miles. First thing would to get rid of the spoiler... Cobra R spoilers are too ricy looking for my taste.

As most of you know, I have a 2004 V6 at the moment with almost 105k miles that has been super reliable. I just drove it back from PA and my exhaust broke in VA and will be welded back tomorrow. She also suffered some paint chips from a couple rocks on the way so she is need of new paint for the hood and the wheel well. (and my alarm started going off while I was driving? that was new)

What do you guys think? (besides the spoiler, it will be the first to go if this works out)

Re: 2003 Supercharged Mach 1 - Thoughts?

It has 77,000 miles total and I'm not sure how much on the S/C until I see them tomorrow. I would put on 18" black bullitts that I found on Craigslist for $175. I know it looks super low. The side exhaust and the Roush front make it super low. If it works out I'll be parking far away from curbs and staying away from speedbumps. lol

EDIT: Nevermind I think it's red.... I still like it, though.

...and it's orange. I would be going from Blue to Orange... Hell yeah, Go Gators!

Lol thanks
I'm not big on body kits but I actually like the Roush kit but might change it up some since some of the lines don't flow as smoothly as I would like the wheels will make a difference plus switch my AM smoked lights. And maybe get rid of all the Mach decals and just have the shaker black as well as my wheels. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Re: 2003 Supercharged Mach 1 - Thoughts?

i can't get myself to liking the roush kit on a mach 1. i like the roush kit in general, but the Mach 1 is a special breed of Mustang.. why make it look like something else?

very nice car in general though.

Re: 2003 Supercharged Mach 1 - Thoughts?

I'm not a fan of the Roush body kit on the Mach but if you like it then go for it! See if you can get some info on the previous owner as far as name and if he or she lived in the same city where it was traded in. I did this with a Cobra I was looking at and searched the previous owners name on FB,sent him a PM and he responded and told me everything I needed to know about the car including the shop that did all the work. I then called the shop and they answered even more questions I had about the car. I even posted the car on SVTP for more info and had a Dallas member offer to go test drive it for me. Give it a try and maybe you will have the same luck. Maybe post the car on a Mach site and see if anyone knows anything about it.

Yeah it's definitely a low Roush kit. The more I look at it the more I like it. But I have to see if it grabs me in person. I can always take the kit off and replace things my friend Matt has his exhaust shop and does work for cheap (fixing Layla tomorrow) if I want to change the exhaust too. I think its a good car to start with especially the Mach 1 and KB. I've got different wheels to see how that changes the overall appearance. The carfax said it had to rebuild the tranny but that was mostly it. The kit is different on a Mach 1 I agree.

And I see you met my best friend, Val... Dan lol

At the Ford dealership? I was there a couple weeks ago and they didn't have much.

Re: 2003 Supercharged Mach 1 - Thoughts?

Decent looking car...not a huge fan of the Roush setup on a Mach but it could be worse. Maybe with the bigger wheels it will sit better. I'd definitely try to get them down on the price...15k is high in this economy with the miles. These cars aren't necessarily flying off the lot.

Only thing I'd be concerned about is the transmission rebuild. Those 4R70W's aren't the greatest automatic transmissions made and the rebuild could've been half assed.

Check on the history of the car, engine mods, and supercharger history. Ask or look to see if a pulley swap has been done...also everything about tuning...that's critical.
I'd also change out those A/C gages...damn, those things are hideos

Lol!

So I drove it and OMG. Such a beast!!! We were there all day but since it's Sat and the banks closed early we have to wait until Monday!!! Ahhh!! I absolutely love it. Threw me back in my seat on the interstate. The kit actually looks so badass in person to me.

Hurry up Monday!
