versus 2012 GT
A good analogy of these two cars, it's the difference of Night and Day.
For the past six months, give or take I have owned a 2011 V6 Pony with manual transmission. Options on the V6 are comfort package, rearview camera, and 3.31 Ratio Limited Slip Axle.
I previously had a 2004 GT Vert and I went with the 2011 V6 due to the increase Hp over the previous versions of the Mustang. Depending on who you talk to, the 2011 V6 has more Hp than any previous GT. It definitely had more Hp than my 2004 GT. With the cost savings on the 2011 V6 I went with it. I was happy. After driving it for the past six months I was impressed with the way it handle, the smoothness in the drive, the comfort, the all around quality of the car.
Now that I have told you the good in the 2011 V6, here is the bad: It is very stiff, the shifting of the manual transmission is sloppy, at times very hard to get into gear and a lot of vibrations in any lower gear at around 2200 rpms. Although I can live with this it is a big worry for me and with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigating the transmission issue it makes me think this isn't a good car. I'm confident that the issue will eventually get resolved and Ford will treat its customers right.
So overall I think the 2011 V6 Mustang
is an awesome car. But, I'm sure you are like yeah who gives a crap and why would it even matter. Well yesterday I traded my 2011 V6 in, opportunities presented themselves and I seized them. I traded the 2011 V6 in for a 2012 GT 5.0.
The 2012 5.0 is a manual transmission and the options are the Brembo package, and comfort package.
First thing I noticed when I drove the car is the power. Holy Crap, after driving the 2011 V6 for the past six months it was like an adrenaline rush. The car shifts like a dream, easy, very lose and smooth. Handles much better than the 2011 V6, I'm not sure if this is the Brembo package option as that has some suspension upgrades with it. Brakes are definitely different than the stock brakes on the 2011 V6. Although I was impressed with the 2011 V6 it is like driving two differently cars. Amazing.
Anyway my two cents.
