Gearing

I got a 2010 GT and I've got upgrades that'll be done within the month...(Roush intake, Roush exhaust, Short shifter, Underdrive pulleys)...and I was wondering about gears. Don't know much about what to look for and request in that department, so any help would be appreciated.

General rule is 4.10 for manual and 3.73 fir autos. 410s give worse gas mileage, but better acceleration and vice versa reguarding the 373s

Autos have wider gears and less of them. Yes 410 for an automatic would be better then a 373 in acceleration (about the same actually as a 373 in a stick shift) and 373 is nice for standerds because standerds have tighter gearing and simply more of them. The 373 gear means ur not shifting to much. Because every time u shift it costs a small amount of time in a race. It adds up if u have to shift 3 or 4 times. Remember ether one of those gears turns your transmition and engine at a higher revolution. At least a transmission cooler upgrade would save the chance, that a hot day would ruine yours! Well one would think.

Both the auto and manual in the 2010 should be be 6 speeds. And I wanna say the gear ratios are very similar in both. There is a reason most drag cars are auto

I think you would be plenty happy with a 373 gear in the rear. It's a very nice mix of performance and streetability.

So 3.73 would be the best bet for performance and regular drivability on a standard transmission? It is a DD, so I don't want gears that are going to bog down my gas mileage in a ridiculous way

The gas mpg change is minimal with the gear change. What's going to get you is your new found lead foot because your going to love being pressed to the seat when you romp on it with the 4:10s. But I've heard that with a six speed tranny and 4:10s is that first gear is about useless.

Don't be scare at the 4.10 gears it might lower your gas milage by 1-3 MPG... if ur putting 3.73 might as well put the 4.10 gears look for videos on YouTube ... if your going to put new gears also put a new defferetial slip
