Price range? Obviously the faster ones, ones with more horsepower, are gonna cost significantly more than say a v6.

Roush, saleen, gt500. They are all great cars, and pretty fast.

Now you could always buy a base model mustang and build it up yourself, but it's gonna cost some extra cash.

I agree with nickdandria on those.

Re: Buying a mustang

I love helping people spend money.

Since you said fast and if your into the style of the 2003-2004 Cobras like mine, they run anywhere from $16,500-$28K even $30k in perfect condition and low, low miles. 390rwhp stock. But since your avatar has a newer Saleen, I would imagine your after something like that. Good luck with your search. There are many knowledgeable people on this site that can help you find exactly what your looking for!

Re: Buying a mustang

generally Saleen or Roush Mustangs are simply Mustang GT's with a body kit and perhaps suspension... they are not faster than a stock GT in a straight line due to this~ they do offer performance upgrades but they are VERY costly.

It would be better to look into an 03/04 mach 1, 03/04 cobra, GT500 or so depending on your budget. The 03/04 cobra is the best bang for the buck by far for performance per dollar spent (600hp at the flywheel for 2k invested)

Re: Buying a mustang

I disagree with the other comments, to a degree. Saleen and Roush cars SOMETIMES are only body and suspension packages. The overwhelming majority of them are supercharged. Yes, some are hideously expensive, but deals are out there. Just a quick look at the Los Angeles and Inland Empire Craigslists showed several blown "signature" cars under $10K.
Yes, the Terminators are the best bang for your buck, BUT you have to start off with quite a few bucks. Cheap Cobras are exceedingly rare- and finding one that has not been raced, wrecked, rebuilt, or beat on, all for cheap, would be a miracle. I can't think of a late model Mustang that has held it's resale value better than a Cobra. I wish that I had bought several of them when they were new for the investment....
Just be patient and keep your eyes and ears open- great cars are out there. Hanging out with other Mustang enthusiasts will usually help, too.

Roush mustangs all depend on the stages (guessing that they have not been upgraded by the owner) stage 3 has the upgraded suspension,supercharger,etc.... now that's not saying that you can't buy a stage one and make it as good as a stage 3 but again its all about your budget. Just don't bite off more than you can chew. Good luck with your search!

It depends does he want to run it around a track? Then Roush or a boss. If he wants to drag or just a bad a** street machine. Terminator if you can find one, second choice gt500 got mine used I'm into it for 42k and running 800+hp at the crank on pump gas and got it with 3k miles on it.
