Which Mustang should I buy next?

I currently own a 2002 V6 and would like to get something a little more performance minded within the next year or so.

I prefer the 99-04 body style and have been debating between a Mach 1, a Cobra, or saving my money a while longer and buying a Saleen. I would sell my current car and put the money towards the new one, so it would be my primary vehicle and I'd be driving it on a daily basis. Which makes the most sense as a daily driver? And I'm ready to deal with spending extra on gas and insurance every month, so that's not really the issue. I'm just trying to get opinions on what would be the best idea as well as the most realistic.

I'd say Mach 1. It's got the bit of extra power over the GT and it's more practical as a daily driver. I personally couldn't imagine driving a cobra on a daily basis because of the constant wear and tear as well as all of the little flaws that come along with it. Rock chips are gonna happen, bird droppings, etc. Not that the car couldn't handle the daily drive, I would just respect a cobra too much for it to be anything but a Sunday/show driver. But that's my personal opinion. Many people believe that a car is meant to be driven. All depends on how you feel I suppose.

Thanks for the input, guys.

And for the amount of money typically asked for Saleens, I'd definitely make sure that it wasn't just a GT with a body kit.

Machs are also insured as a gt so you save some cash there. They are a little more DD friendly and dont have IRS to worry about

That's practically what they are, I would go with the Mach 1. You get better performance and a more rare car that looks better IMO.

Yeah I own a Mach and have driven a 01 gt, 03 cobra, 08 bullitt and I gotta say I love the Mach. Best bang for your buck, solid motor will very little problems, 4v which has great potential. Best mustang I have ever driven. And the handling is amazing for a pony.

What did you mean by not having to worry about the IRS? Is it bad to drive with it a lot or what? Just wondering. Thanks.

In stock form they are pretty weak and if hitting the strip you can break stuff easily. If you look under the modular section someone just put an IRS build thread up there and you can see all the parts involved

Re: Which Mustang should I buy next?

the 03/04 cobra is the best bang for the buck Mustang out there so its probably the best route to go if you want the most performance for dollar spent.

Cobras are as cheap as v6s to insure... Trust me. I got a quote for only $20 more a year than my 04 sixxer than for a 2004 cobra
