Speed demon?

I know there is lot of you out there with a need for speed. I was hoping some of you may be able to help me with horsepower improvements. I have a 96 v6, with k & n filter that's it. I know someone that has a supercharger I could buy for $500, it's a eaton m90. Is it worth it? Im looking for more torque, more speed of the line. I'd there any reasonably priced things I can do to increase horsepower and torque?

Thanks!

The supercoupe swap brings a good bit of power. You want to do the heads along withthe supercharger though. Theres lways nitrous but you want a good kit with allthe safety switches. And if you dont want to go all out with big swaps then you can do the windstar intake swap

I heard the supercharger only really works at higher speeds and if you push the pedal right to the ground. True?

No its a roots style so will come on early and depends which pulley you run how much power it will make. You can easily make it run down a lightly modded 99+ gt

Oh, so is it worth the buy? I'm thinking of getting that or the new iPhone 4s. Lol

And what pulley should I run it off to get maximum power?

The supercharger had never been used, he never got the time to instal it.

Re: Speed demon?

There's alot more to adding a supercharger than just bolting it on.

At a minimum you will need new intake tubing, fuel injectors, belt/pulley setup, appropriate gaskets, and a good tune.

A better mod, in my opinion, would be doing a split port swap on your engine.

It entails heads, lower intake, upper intake from a 99-04 car. Would be an excellent time for a good cam swap as well.

Is it better to do than a supercharger? Is it easier? Adds more hp/torque? Cheaper?

You would be best of swapping a complete supercoupe motor into it that way you have the same motor with better heads and the supercharger but complete with all accessories, injectors, intake, everything. Its a simple swap and drops right in but you just need to extend a few wires

Re: Speed demon?

you cant just put the M90 supercharger onto your car, it takes MUCH more work to do it and the end result is not that great.

Okay, eaton m90 supercharger( not worried about the extra parts just on how good it is) or a new exhaust system( like magnaflow or flowmasters) i only have a v6 but the stock exhaust isn't anything special.

Thanks.

Re: Speed demon?

exhaust (catback) will add about 5rwhp, the M90 is a crappy blower compared to a whipple or kb etc but it can get the job done if ported etc but you wont be able to mount it to your engine with out an adaptor kit or the full supercoupe motor for the most part.

So to get the job done with a supercharger im looking at over $1,500? I think I might put an exhaust for the nice sound, get a supercharger for my next car.

With the v6 i prolly would go turbo over sc myself if i could choose one or the other.ull find the gains in the higher rpms nicer with little to no parsitic loss of any kind so for me if i would build that motor i would start in head work (new.... Probably. better springs port &polish so on and so forth.) . After i had some fun with that, then a nice cam and tune.burn out city. And when adding the turbo would come up for its addition to the games. i would beef up the bottom end a little. maybe a forged crank. start with lower boost and work up. Start adding forged parts as u increse boost levels and allways retune as u increse boost and add new parts. But never forget to have some fun between steps.
