Some states they are illegal and it cost you much more to get caught with that than a speeding ticket. Easiest fix for speeding tickets....slow down. LOL!

Re: Police radar?

They work great! and yes you get what you pay for, get a nice one from Cobra, it will be expensive but so is loosing you license or having your car towed for "racing on the interstate" .....awww good memories! anyhow, plan on investing to upgrade to a newer model every 2 years.

You may want to look into a wired in system with a jammer.

Only problem is it doesn't jam the laser making it pointless in most circumstances.

Re: Police radar?

Like its been said you get what you pay for. Not always though so ask around before you buy. Cobra is one of your top lines they make bad a** cb radios so a cobra might fit in real nnice

Re: Police radar?

you can get a cobra at just about any custom car radio/tent place. easyer would to be just order one off line. also Radio shach had them for the longest time and probably still do, Also just about any truck stop along the interstate always has a full inventory of them. hears kinda an educational video....http://youtu.be/RSZL9WbWl68

this part is key, as many police forces outsource to companies to find ways to make scanners worthless. When a new model comes out, they buy them, and immediately find ways to surpass them. stupid feds haha

Valentine one, escort, and beltronics radar detectors are upgradable. No need to buy a new one, just send it in and have it reprogrammed.

Just a word to all the speeders out there. Most radar units in patrol cars have a standby mode. The unit stays in standby until the officer notices a car traveling faster than most cars in the area, then they either hit front radar or rear depending on where you are coming from and lock. By the time the radar detector verifies and recognized the frequency ect... Your speed is locked.
Of course unless the officer is just goofing off talking on the phone or typing reports then they tend to leave it on and just get "targets of opportunity". This isn't across the board but for most well trained agencies.
Just to let y'all know.

That is very true. I've seen escort advertise that. From what I've read in the past 5 or 6 posts and what I've read everywhere else about them seems to me like you get what you pay for. Just make sure that your state allows them.

^True it may not be 100% no ticket if you're on a 2 lane road. In my opinion they are designed to help you avoid speed traps. A good one will also eliminate false positives.
