Mustang down for the count...

Driving home with my dad yesterday taking our time when a big rig passed us traveling A Lot faster. That caused the car to fish tail and we went into a concrete median.

Had no clue losing a mustang could be so painful (emotionally)...

Re: Mustang down for the count...

Dang man, sorry to hear that! How bad is the damage, fixable? I've had my baby a week today and I'd be devastated if that happened!

Damn, sorry to hear that. Everyone ok? I know how easy it is to get attached to your car and I'm sure this is the last thing you wanna hear but it's replaceable, human life isn't. You'll get another one, when you're ready. Did you get any info on the truck? Believe it or not, even though he didn't hit you, he's responsible. That's wreck less endangerment on his part. I drive a truck for a living and a former driver had a similar incident. He was found at fault.

Re: Mustang down for the count...

That sucks... I can't imagine how bad that must be... Mostly front end damage I assume? How much would it cost to rebuild... Is insurance helping you at all? :/

That sucks! I hope everyone is ok. As stated before, the car can be replaced. Good luck with resolving this!

Re: Mustang down for the count...

Ehh cant really go by what they "guesstimate" just by looking at it. I think I'd rather a total than repair if the damage is that extensive anyways. Words of advice, by the car back from the insurance company if it is totaled. You can sell oem parts off of it then scrap the shell and make a lot more money for your new build!!

Re: Mustang down for the count...

When our two Mustangs were heavily damaged in a tornado, someone asked me why I wasn't more upset, and I told them, "My Mustangs are cars, it's not as if grandma got hurt and died in a tornado... unlike grandma, the cars are fixable or replaceable.."

Ya when I got into my accident a few years ago, I was more pissed at the fact it happened vs the damage done to the car!.. But then again I have a friend that's been doin auto collision repair longer than I've been alive!.. So in the end I wasn't to worried about it!..

Dang, so have you contemplated buying it back? I think the insurance company just deducts the salvage value of the car from the totaled amount. I just went through this and sold aftermarket parts and OEM and made 5x the amount of my salvage value.

We're just going to use the money to buy a new car

Oh i am so sorry this happened to you- but glad you guys are okay. That is awful- I hate those big trucks!
Another thing you can do is if you have the stock parts left, they will usually let you take off your aftermarket stuff if you replace it. If you can't do that, give an itemized list of aftermarket stuff on the car to your ins. Adjuster and they should give you credit for that.

When I totaled my Stang this past summer (stupid Toyota driver ran a light and t boned me) I bawled my eyes out over it- then realized I was lucky to be alive. So, really glad you are too- surviving a tangle with one of those trucks is pretty miraculous when you think about it!

Yeah we're going to get the money back from the insurance company for all the mods I did (luckily not too many).
