Non MWG shifter vehicles.....

I sat in a 2004 cobra last night with a steeda shifter and some roush looking handle (but not long just chrome looking at the base) the sucker was a pita to reach over. The MGW bends towards you. I couldn't believe how far I had to reach to the right to get the shifter. Putting it in 1st was like putting mine in reverse (all the way to the right and up)

Re: Non MWG shifter vehicles.....

Thats my main gripe with the MGW is the handle position. Tri-Ax handle = perfect for me. I know a guy who went from the MGW because he didn't like the handle and runs a Pro 5.0 with a Tri-Ax handle and likes it alot.

Re: Non MWG shifter vehicles.....

I just put the MGW on my car...1million times better than factory, no complaints here. I drove one before with the 5.0 shifter and it just didn't feel right.

Re: Non MWG shifter vehicles.....

I switched from Pro 5.0 (came with car) to a MGW. I agree with Brandon, the MGW puts the shifter in a more natural position compare to the Pro 5.0. I've never actually drove one with a stock shifter.

Re: Non MWG shifter vehicles.....

Yea the one I sat it had horrible position for first gear, it was just so strange... felt like I was trying to put it in reverse.

I'm running a triax with the MGW handle made for the stock shifter and it's perfect!

Yeah, but we all know you're weird...so your opinion is flawed.

I just need more practice...I did finally get it to hook up in 2nd though, 1st isn't worth crap with the stock badyears...they're pretty bald too though. Luckily my new tires/wheels are on the ups truck somewhere around here.

Re: Non MWG shifter vehicles.....

I've taken many different Mustangs for a drive (from Fox to New Edge styles) and tried many different shifters.

IMO, the Tri-Ax was the King of the Hill until the MGW came out, and now nothing can compare - I now run an MGW in my 83.

I actually liked the Roush Classic Shifter Handle on the Tri-Ax a fair bit... had a nice feel along with a unique look for a shifter these days, but the look doesn't work in all vehicles IMO. Would I pay for it though.... not sure.

The B&M Ripper and the Pro-5.0 weren't bad, but I wouldn't pay full price to get my hands on either of them (granted I don't believe I've tried the Pro-5.0 with a Tri-Ax handle)..... might have considered buying one when I was looking, had I gotten a good deal on it.

Hurst's Billet T5 shifter was..... meh.

The UPR Blue Thunder was **** (I already expect this from pretty any UPR product though since they're knock-offs of other products, so that wasn't a surprise).

Mac Racer's Choice shifter was very forgettable (mind you, a Mac products, like UPR, will never touch my car anyway, so I didn't care much about it to begin with).

Re: Non MWG shifter vehicles.....

DR's do wonders for wheelhop and traction problems, I recommend them to you along with some FLSFC's. The Nitto's are a very good DR street tire that doesn't do anything bad on the street. Even in moderate rain there not that bad and they last pretty good too. From my understanding they don't hook as well in the cold, but I bet their still better than a regular street tire.

Re: Non MWG shifter vehicles.....

they work good on a mild GT, but a cobra or a GT built will be too much for them
you really need some M/T DR but theydon't last long at all on the street

but youy to pay to play

ON the street they work good. First and second become useful on a modded Cobra.
