Exhaust 99 Cobra

I had it in mind to keep it all factory but I can't take it anymore. I plan on getting some gears and cai. I have run flows with no cats back several years ago on a Dodge dakota r/t with no problems. I was looking for any kind of advice on doing this. I would really like some short headers as well. Also everyones po's on H pipe vs X pipe.

I'm an x pipe person on 4v cars. Just make sure if you buy a catback system it specifies for 99-04 cobra only

Re: Exhaust 99 Cobra

start with a catback, then if you want louder go with an X pipe or off road H etc.

I would look into Borla Stingers for your catback

It is against federal law to remove or tamper with your catalytic converters.

With that said take em out

LOL I live in Alabama although its illegal we do not have any emissions test. I seen where had mil kits so that your cpu wouldn't know they were removed. I know some cars have to have a certain amount of back pressure to run right.

Do the x or h pipes come before or after the cats

---------- Post added at 02:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:23 PM ----------

* that was a dumb question being that the cats are up front

They are what the cats are mounted to. To be honest there isn't that much sound difference between high flow cats and no cats

Re: Exhaust 99 Cobra

No, but most aftermarket companies offer them. I have a set with my 5 piece bassani unit, they look pretty on the shelf in the garage...

Have you had any issues with them out? Hate to be off subject but have you ever adjusted your clutch cable?

No issues, none of our stangs have them. They are turned off in my tune and the other cars have mil eliminators.

On the clutch cable issue the stock adjustments suck. I have a fiore microclick firewall adjuster and steeda quadrant

Cool. I thought it was me, I've not liked the clutch release since I got the car. I've had my first Stang for over 3 months now. Is that clutch cable a easy install?

It's not a cable. The factory cable is by far the best piece. They aren't the easiest to install but not too difficult

That's where the firewall adjuster will install and there is no adjustability in the factory piece.

The only adjustment from the factory is to put your toes under the clutch pedal and pull back on it. You will probably hear it click a few times, but that us all the adjustment you can do

Didn't hear a click but it made a huge difference, feels much better. I also noticed when I let off the clutch, sometimes it felt a little grabby. It doesn't now.
